I have spent the time before school preparing the new equipment and supplies so that students can begin exploring this technology as soon as classes start.\r\n\r\nThe sublimation printer will allow students to take designs they create on the computer and transfer them onto real, physical items. Instead of their work remaining only on a screen, they will be able to hold their creations, share them with their families, and proudly say, \"I made this!\" I am especially excited to see their reactions the first time they watch one of their digital designs become a finished product.\r\n\r\nThe new MakerBot extruder has helped restore one of our 3D printers so it can once again be used for hands-on learning. The donated filament will give students the materials they need to turn their ideas into three-dimensional models and prototypes. Through these projects, students will practice measuring, designing, testing, troubleshooting, revising, and persevering when something does not work correctly the first time.\r\n\r\nThe 3D-printer repair toolkit will also allow us to properly maintain and repair our equipment. It will help students understand that technology is not simply something they use—it is something they can study, troubleshoot, and learn to repair. Rather than seeing a malfunctioning printer as a dead end, students will see it as a problem waiting to be solved.\r\n\r\nThe computer-cleaning tool is helping me prepare our computer lab for the beginning of the school year. Our computers are used throughout the day for coding, computer applications, robotics, 3D design, and other technology projects. Keeping the computers clean and functioning properly will allow students to spend more time learning and creating.\r\n\r\nMany of my students have limited access to this type of equipment outside of school. These resources will give them the opportunity to experience technology that could inspire future interests in engineering, manufacturing, graphic design, computer science, business, and other career fields.\r\n\r\nAlthough my students have not yet entered the classroom for the new school year, your generosity is already making a difference. Our equipment is being cleaned, repaired, stocked, and prepared for them. On August 14, they will enter a classroom where more machines are working, more materials are available, and more ideas can become reality.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students before you have even had the opportunity to meet them.
