These resources have provided valuable opportunities for them to design, engineer, and create innovative, hands-on projects. When we first introduced the materials, students were unfamiliar with how to use them. Through a series of structured lessons, they learned how to design, build, and code, gradually developing the skills and confidence needed to bring their ideas to life. \r\n\r\nOnce the students understood the tools and processes, students were able to independently design and complete a project of their choosing. Not all ideas in this project were scares, but an expression of artwork and interests. The integration of art and motion sparked a high level of engagement and creativity. Using the hummingbird kits, students coded movement into their artwork, while the Makedo tools allowed them to construct and assemble their designs using cardboard and other materials. They explored problem-solving, creativity and engineering in meaningful ways. \r\n\r\nCurrenty, we are expanding this hummingbird project into a second project. The second project will include a chosen theme by the students. The whole class will combine their artwork and movements to put together as one large single project. The project will be displayed at our next student showcase for parents to see. \r\n\r\nThese projects would not have been possible without your generous support. Your contributions have made a lasting impact impact on my students' learning experiences, and we are truly grateful for your investment in their education.\r\n\r\nThe following link will share a youtube video of the projects in motion \r\nCopy and paste this link to see the video of student projects\r\nhttps://sites.google.com/snowlineschools.com/hummingbird-projects/home","fullyFundedDate":1765168362084,"projectUrl":"project/stem-hummingbird-robots-and-moving-jump/9916467/","projectTitle":"STEM Hummingbird Robots and Moving Jump Scare Scenes!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sturdevant","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4786967"},{"teacherId":10356878,"projectId":9908955,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for bringing this project to life! Because of your generosity, my classroom has been buzzing with the sounds of creation and the excitement of hands-on engineering. This was our very first time using the Hummingbird kits, and giving the students the freedom to choose their own projects created instant buy-in. From the moment they saw the motors, sensors, and LED lights, they were hooked. They spent hours diving into the mechanics of how motors work, and seeing that \"lightbulb moment\" when their code finally made a motor spin was priceless.\r\nWe used several new resources, but the real star of the show was the specialized cardboard construction tools. These tools made it incredibly easy and safe for everyone. The most popular item was the cardboard hole punch tool. It created a perfect fit every single time. In fact, we didn't have a single mistake in the entire class! One standout moment was watching a student use the punch tool to perfectly align a rotating axle for their project. The pride on their face when the movement was smooth and snag-free was a highlight of the project.\r\nThe momentum from this project is just getting started. If you'd like to see these inventions in action, I've posted photos and a video on YouTube (@daniellebeaujean8012) so you can see exactly what your support helped create! For my next group of students, we are going to take these skills to the next level by choosing a specific theme so all the projects coordinate into one large, interactive display.\r\nThank you again for investing in my students and for making science and engineering so much fun!","fullyFundedDate":1766438322414,"projectUrl":"project/cardboard-creators/9908955/","projectTitle":"Cardboard Creators","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beaujean","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10356878"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53081","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":812,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":30,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":57,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"23.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":71.3,"schoolId":53081,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pinon Mesa Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pinon Mesa Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/snowline-joint-unified-school-district/pinon-mesa-middle-school/53081"}
