Your donations bought us a wonderful mobile book display and many diverse music books. Our students are from every continent. Many are new English speakers or refugees. These new books help them connect their cultures with music. The new library is a big source of pride for our classroom.\r\n\r\nReading in our music class is now about discovery. The books teach us much more than just stories. \"Dancing Hands\" and \"Libba\" teach us about brave, important musicians. Books about instruments, like \"88 Instruments\", teach us how sound is made. We use the Bob Marley books like \"One Love\" to talk about music and big ideas. The Spanish books, like \"¿Quién fue Celia Cruz?\", affirm our students' home languages. This helps all students grow their reading and music knowledge.\r\n\r\nThe new books and display make a huge difference. Students who are learning English found books about their home countries. This makes them feel smart and confident. Now, students always run to the mobile display during free time. They love sharing books like \"Double Bass Blues\" with their friends. Thank you for giving us this powerful tool. It connects their love of music to their passion for reading.","fullyFundedDate":1760693655449,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-in-music/9677560/","projectTitle":"Literacy in Music","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cottrell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3088803_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x121,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1678228601594","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/reilly-music"},{"teacherId":3088803,"projectId":9320333,"letterContent":"This project's success, made possible by your generous support, has had a profound and immediate impact on our music room's creative environment. Thank you for providing the batteries that unlocked the full potential of our essential instruments. Consistent power for the ukulele tuners has eliminated the frustration of out-of-tune instruments, allowing students to achieve perfect pitch quickly and confidently. This small logistical improvement has yielded a major educational benefit: our students are now spending less time troubleshooting and more time genuinely engaging in harmonious small-ensemble work. Their newfound ability to consistently produce accurate, pleasing sound has boosted individual confidence and fostered a deeper sense of ownership over their musical contributions.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful that this funding also ensured the reliable operation of the Remo Kids Percussion Rain Forest Floor Tom. This foundational tool now constantly reinforces a strong, collective beat, ensuring that every student, regardless of their melodic proficiency, can experience the joy and power of rhythmic contribution. By providing consistent access to these vital tools—the precision of the tuners and the pulse of the drum—you directly supported hands-on musical learning. Your generosity has empowered our students to move beyond the limitations of unreliable equipment, leading to more confident playing, richer collaboration, and the creation of truly beautiful, in-tune music together.","fullyFundedDate":1752586462024,"projectUrl":"project/in-tune-ukuleles-and-drums-for-ensembles/9320333/","projectTitle":"In-tune Ukuleles and Drums for Ensembles!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cottrell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3088803_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x121,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1678228601594","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/reilly-music"},{"teacherId":3747366,"projectId":9050408,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been buzzing with creativity! The new art materials have opened up exciting opportunities for hands-on learning and artistic exploration. Our kindergarten students have been using the fresh supplies to create imaginative art pieces using shapes, markers, and colorful paper. It's been incredible to watch them experiment with size, color, and placement—learning foundational geometry and fine motor skills all while expressing themselves through art.\r\n\r\nOur 1st and 2nd graders have taken things a step further, diving into the world of 3D art by working on paper sculptures. Their faces lit up when they first saw the new materials—many couldn't wait to start cutting, folding, and assembling their own creations. One memorable moment was when a student proudly exclaimed, \"I didn't know I could make something like this!\" after completing a paper structure that stood on its own. These projects have not only built their confidence but also encouraged problem-solving and perseverance.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be exploring how to combine 2D and 3D elements in a single piece of artwork, helping students think even more critically about structure, design, and storytelling through art. Because of your kindness, my second-grade readers now have access to new and exciting books that have truly ignited their love for reading.\r\n\r\nThanks to your donation, I was able to provide multiple copies of several beloved series—and the excitement has been contagious! From the moment the books arrived, students were eagerly flipping through pages, choosing which character's journey they'd join next, and diving into discussions with their peers. Our book clubs have come to life in the most amazing way, with students reading more fluently, comprehending more deeply, and—most importantly—feeling the joy of being part of a reading community.\r\nThis project has allowed us to continue series we already love and explore new ones we've recently discovered. It's such a special thing to watch young readers light up when they connect with a book or can't wait to talk about a surprising plot twist with their group. These shared reading experiences are helping them build confidence, empathy, and critical thinking skills in ways that will stay with them well beyond this school year.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students feel seen, supported, and inspired as readers. Because of your generous donation, our students were able to dive hands-first into science like never before—literally!\r\n\r\nThe colorful plastic bins you helped fund have already become a favorite part of our classroom. Most recently, they played a huge role during our volcano unit, where students conducted hands-on experiments to simulate real volcanic eruptions. The excitement was off the charts! With the tubs providing a safe, contained space for all our foaming lava reactions, students were able to explore, question, and discover in a way that was both educational and unforgettable.\r\n\r\nNot only did these bins keep our classroom (mostly!) clean during messy experiments, they also helped turn a science concept into a real, tangible experience for curious second-grade minds.
