Sometimes the students just like to hold onto the iPad yet still be available to listen and be engaged in the day.\r\n\r\nThis iPad has been able to be used for calming uses by the students and to help take their mind off of whatever stressors they are dealing with. They can look at educational things on the iPad and do it independently which helps to reduce their stress and help with their mental health.\r\n\r\nFulfilling this grant has helped many of my students that need a temporary outlet to refocus and get back to work. This was a project my students were looking forward to getting started with.\r\n\r\nI have a class of students who have varied disabilities that are learning functional life and job skills in a work setting. The fish tanks are set up outside the classroom and give a calming presence for my students and staff who pass by them. \r\n\r\nStudents enjoyed looking at the fish in a bucket before we added them to the tank. Each day the students stop by and look for their favorite fish. It is an enjoyable experience for them and have multiple staff who stop by to look in the tanks.\r\n\r\nStudents also take time to clean the tanks and add water as needed since it evaporates away with time.
