Our little readers had such a connection with the idea of getting lost as a worry they also have that each one of them enthusiastically shared from their personal life experience. I wasn't expecting that worry to be as high on their list as it was. The magic of connecting with book characters offers a non threatening way to discuss more difficult SEL topics. Our need assessment data showed that emotional management, problem solving, and conflict resolution as areas to focus on. Many of these books specifically address this. We are working on adding these books into our group lessons, and are super excited for the fresh and fun characters added to our line up which will meet our students where they are.\r\n\r\nWe have already shared some of the books with our students in one on ones and classroom lessons. Clovis keeps his Cool, and Mother Bruce are just a few that kept our kids laughing while they learned about regulating emotions and decision making. Sorry, Snail has also been a big hit for helping our young ones understand why a sincere apology matters when making amends\r\n.\r\nEvery book will be used purposely throughout this school year to support social emotional learning. I don't know what makes my reading heart more happy when they get excited because they already love the book we are about to read or when I get to introduce them to a brand new story. My goal is to build a SEL library for each grade level to continue learning SEL that is tailored to the needs of their grade. It's a big dream! But my kids deserve books that matter to them.","fullyFundedDate":1754936529413,"projectUrl":"project/inspiring-young-minds-through-social-emo/9363310/","projectTitle":"Inspiring Young Minds Through Social Emotional Learning Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cook","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7892544_orig.jpg?crop=2139,2139,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1625001850466","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/laura-jillcook"},{"teacherId":9213093,"projectId":9136171,"letterContent":"At our elementary school, we believe that every child deserves to start their day with comfort, confidence, and a smile. Thanks to the generous donation of pants and underwear, our littlest learners can now focus on what truly matters—learning, playing, and growing—without the worry of unexpected accidents or clothing mishaps. These everyday essentials may seem small, but to our students, they're a big part of feeling safe and cared for.\r\n\r\nHaving fresh, clean clothing on hand means that a spilled juice box or a muddy puddle doesn't have to derail a child's day. Instead of feeling embarrassed or uncomfortable, our students can quickly change and get right back to exploring the world around them with wide eyes and curious minds. It helps them feel supported, loved, and confident—and that makes a world of difference in their ability to learn and thrive in the classroom.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts (and our little ones' giggly bellies), thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your donations have brought more than just clothes; you've brought peace of mind, warmth, and dignity to children who need it most. Your kindness and thoughtfulness have made a significant difference in helping us maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for both our students and teachers.\r\n The addition of these cabinets has been truly transformative. One of the biggest challenges we faced in our classroom was keeping our bathroom tidy and ensuring that our supplies and student clothes were stored in a way that was both accessible for teachers and safe for our young learners. With your generous contribution, we now have a dedicated space to neatly organize clothes, store extra essentials, and keep cleaning supplies securely up and out of reach of our PreK students.\r\n Organization is such a crucial part of our daily routine, and having the right storage solution allows us to function more efficiently. Now everything has it's place and we can quickly find what we need. This has made our daily tasks smoother and more manageable, allowing us to focus on what truly matters, providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment for our littlest ones. \r\n We are incredibly grateful for your support and investment in our classroom.
