It has made it possible for us to use child friendly appropriate lessons and materials with our youngest students using the Pyramid Approach Curriculum. The graphics are amazing!! They are colorful with characters our students are drawn to.\r\n\r\nI've included pictures with two of my students that have shown the most benefit from this program. They often have outbursts in class, with adults and with peers. These outbursts can be disruptive to the class and often become physical. One student has become much better at taking deep breaths and identifying emotions. The other student is even more proficient with emotions, but not yet carrying this over to frustrating moments. During one lesson, he even exclaimed \"I'm naming emotions!\" with a smile.\r\n\r\nThe lesson pictured is a story about a spider using the Pyramid solution kit. They are now becoming familiar with this kit, the steps and the strategy choices. Last week the solution card to use a time was utilized and deemed effective, but not yet mastered. Their teacher reports seeing progress with calming strategies and labeling emotions. This program has made a great difference! They now take pride in managing their own materials and moving confidently between activities. It's wonderful to see them learning responsibility and self-confidence in such a hands-on way. We have made a tissue station in our classroom and have taught our students how to respectfully blow their nose and come back to class. They have access to tissues, hand sanitizer and a trash can.
