Every winter and every spring, the students come together as a grade for a program. The songs are folk songs and use many different instruments to make the simple folk songs used stand out. The tubanos will be used to add rhythmic elements and to keep a beat that the students can hear throughout the performance. My students already spend their time creating and performing rhythms on the floor, but they need a way to express themselves in a musical way. Giving them the opportunity to explore their musical tendencies on the drums will give them the inspiration they need to continue exploring music. Additionally, the students love to write and perform their own rhythmic compositions. The drums will give the students a platform to really own their own creations and have a way to perform that is new, fun, and exciting to hear.
