Many had never seen such a large, carefully designed enclosure, and they were fascinated by how much space Sunny now has to roam, climb, and explore. The bigger tank immediately sparked questions—about his diet, natural habitat, and behaviors—which turned into an impromptu science discussion right there in the classroom. That curiosity was exactly what I hoped for when I dreamed of this project.\r\n\r\nSince then, we've been using Sunny's enclosure as the centerpiece for hands-on science lessons. Students have been observing his daily routines and recording data about his eating habits, basking times, and activity levels. This led to a recent project where small groups researched different desert ecosystems and presented how they would design an ideal habitat for various reptiles. Sunny's new home became a real-world example they could study, compare, and learn from.\r\n\r\nThe next step for our students is to create informational posters and digital presentations about bearded dragon care, tying together research, observation, and creative design. They'll also share what they've learned with younger grades, turning them into \"reptile experts\" who can inspire others. This project has truly gone beyond just upgrading an enclosure—it has created a living, engaging teaching tool that connects science, responsibility, and wonder every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1742949550556,"projectUrl":"project/bigger-home-for-our-bearded-buddy/9169666/","projectTitle":"Bigger Home for Our Bearded Buddy!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Suits","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8493662_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1668620843975","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8493662"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_100780","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":463,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":72,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":68.4,"schoolId":100780,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Park View Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Park View Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/bradley-county-school-district/park-view-elementary-school/100780"}
