The new equipment has allowed us to run more efficient and engaging soccer lessons where students can spend more time practicing skills and less time waiting for turns. With enough soccer balls for small-group drills and pinnies to clearly organize teams, students have been able to fully participate in passing drills, dribbling challenges, and small-sided games that build both skills and confidence.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment came during our small-sided team competitions when students used the pinnies to quickly form teams and rotate through mini-games. The organization made it easy for students to stay active, and it was exciting to see teams communicating, encouraging one another, and celebrating goals together. Students who normally stay quiet in class were actively involved and contributing to their teams.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new soccer balls and pinnies, they immediately noticed the difference. Many commented on how much better the balls felt and how much easier it was to identify teammates with the pinnies. The excitement was obvious, and students were eager to start playing right away. Having new, matching equipment gave our program a sense of pride and made the class feel more like a real team experience.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, we are now able to build toward more advanced activities such as skill-based challenges, positional play, and structured class tournaments. Our next steps include teaching offensive and defensive strategies, teamwork concepts, and game rules while giving students more opportunities to apply their skills in real-game situations. Your generosity has helped create a more active, organized, and engaging learning environment for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1746785607593,"projectUrl":"project/kickin-it-into-gear-teamwork-and-fun-t/9207033/","projectTitle":"Kickin’ It Into Gear: Teamwork and Fun Through Soccer!","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Wardlaw","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9820685_orig.jpg?crop=978,977,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731519004707","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/coachwardlaw"},{"teacherId":9820685,"projectId":9111742,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our students now have access to quality pickleball nets and paddles that have transformed our Physical Education classes. Before this project, many of our students had never even heard of pickleball. Now, they are actively learning the rules, practicing skills, and playing real games in a structured unit that focuses on teamwork, communication, and lifelong fitness. We set up multiple courts during class so students can rotate through drills and game play, allowing everyone to stay active and engaged instead of waiting on turns. One of the best moments was seeing students who normally hesitate to participate jump into games and start encouraging their teammates. Pickleball has quickly become one of the most requested activities in our PE classes.\r\n\r\nWhen the equipment first arrived, students were excited just to see brand-new nets and paddles set up in the gym. Many immediately asked when they would get to play and some even recognized the sport from family members or community courts. The excitement created instant engagement, and students took pride in using and caring for the new equipment.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, we are now able to expand beyond basic skills into more advanced gameplay and small tournaments within our classes. Our next steps include teaching strategy, scoring systems, and sportsmanship while giving students more opportunities for competitive and recreational play. Your generosity has already made a meaningful difference for our students.\r\nFrom the moment the boxes arrived, the room was buzzing with excitement. Students formed teams, created rules, and dove into cooperative play—skills like turn-taking, communication, and sportsmanship surfaced immediately. We've woven the cornhole set into lessons across subjects: during math, students run \"Target Toss\" experiments to collect data, calculate averages, and display results with simple graphs; in science we're using the boards to explore force and motion; and in language arts students will write short reflections about how strategy and feedback improved their performance.\r\nA recent highlight: a usually reserved fifth-grader proudly explained to the class how adjusting his stance increased his accuracy, and his improved results were met with cheers. Moments like that—where confidence, teamwork, and learning connect—are exactly what your gift enabled.\r\nNext, we'll expand these activities into standards-aligned units and host a small \"Math & Movement\" showcase so students can present their findings and teach younger peers what they learned. We'll be sure to share photos and student work so you can see the impact of your kindness.\r\nThank you again for supporting our classroom community. Your donation brought joy, hands-on learning, and opportunities for students to grow academically and socially.","fullyFundedDate":1763923675944,"projectUrl":"project/bring-cornhole-to-life-for-our-students/9908952/","projectTitle":"Bring Cornhole to Life for Our Students","teacherDisplayName":"Coach O'Brien","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7798181_orig.png?crop=640,640,x0,y40&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758646623502","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/coachobrien"},{"teacherId":7798181,"projectId":9752571,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our physical education program. Because of you, our students now have access to new equipment that has completely changed the energy and possibilities in class. We are using the footballs, basketballs, and soccer balls daily for skill-building stations, small-sided games, and fitness circuits that allow every student to stay active rather than waiting on the sidelines. One of my favorite recent moments was watching a group of students rotate through passing, dribbling, and shooting stations—each fully engaged, encouraging one another, and excited to try something new.\r\n\r\nWhen the equipment first arrived, the students' reactions said everything. Their eyes lit up as they unpacked the gear, and the gym immediately buzzed with anticipation. Several students thanked me personally after class, and I made sure they knew that this was possible because of caring donors who believed in them and in the value of movement and play. For many of them, having enough equipment to go around meant more confidence, more participation, and the freedom to choose activities that matched their interests.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are building on this momentum by creating longer skill-development units and student-choice days, where learners can select which sport or activity they want to focus on while still meeting fitness goals. We are also working on teamwork challenges and mini-tournaments that emphasize cooperation, perseverance, and joy in being active. Your generosity has opened the door to richer lessons and more inclusive experiences for every student in our gym. While many people are used to having TVs at home for entertainment, in our classroom — which happens to be a weight room — this technology serves as a dynamic teaching tool and a central hub for training guidance.\r\n\r\nWe use the screen to display daily workout plans, demonstration videos, and real-time timers, which helps students stay focused and on-task without constantly needing to ask for clarification. It has streamlined instruction and allowed us to coach more efficiently while giving students visual cues to improve form and technique. We also use it to display highlight reels and motivational content, which has added a level of excitement and energy that the students truly respond to.\r\n\r\nWhat's most exciting to the students is the feeling that they're in a legit training facility. They often say it feels like a \"real college or pro weight room,\" which raises their level of pride, focus, and effort. One student in particular, who previously struggled to stay engaged during workouts, has completely turned around — now eager to lead warm-ups and keep others accountable by watching the screen closely and helping interpret the day's routine for peers.\r\n\r\nThanks to this project, our weight room isn't just a place to lift — it's a place to learn, grow, and train with purpose.","fullyFundedDate":1746786520811,"projectUrl":"project/bigger-screen-bigger-gains-improve-our/9059286/","projectTitle":"Bigger Screen, Bigger Gains: Improve Our Newly Expanded Weight Room!","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Wardlaw","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9820685_orig.jpg?crop=978,977,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731519004707","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/coachwardlaw"},{"teacherId":9820685,"projectId":9058830,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our Sports Management students at Palmetto High School were able to bring their ideas to life using the MacBook Pro funded through this project. During our marketing unit, students used professional-grade tools to create graphics, promotional materials, and social media content for our school's athletic programs and community organizations. The results were incredible—not only did they learn real-world skills, but they also saw their work displayed across campus and online, giving them a sense of pride and ownership in their education.\r\n\r\nFor many of our students, this was their first time using high-powered creative software on a MacBook, and the excitement was immediate. They were drawn to the fast processing power, clean design, and ability to multitask efficiently—features that made projects more engaging and realistic. What was most exciting to them was seeing their designs published in real-world settings—used in game-day promotions, event posters, and on school social media accounts.\r\n\r\nOne student, in particular, who had previously shown little interest in traditional coursework, completely thrived in this environment. He quickly became a leader in the class, helping others learn Photoshop and Canva, and is now considering a career in digital media or sports marketing. Stories like his show how the right tools can unlock potential that might otherwise go untapped.\r\n\r\nBecause of how well this unit went, interest in our Sports Management course has grown significantly. Students are asking to join next semester, and we're already looking ahead to expanding the program. Additional resources will likely be needed to keep up with the demand and to give more students the opportunity to explore their creativity and build future-ready skills.\r\n\r\nWe can't thank you enough for helping make this possible.
