The experience gave the students some insight into business and marketing: Students created posters advertising our booth and decided what to charge per game. They also suggested and voted on what to use as prizes. The day of the event, several students showed up early to set up the booth. They worked in hour long shifts to man the booth while others walked around the fair and hawked our booth. People who visited our booth enjoyed themselves. Whether it's to gather in the center for read-alouds, meet for group discussions, or even just relax on the ground after some diligent work on testing, the carpet, I believe, was one of the best additions to the class we've had yet!\r\n\r\nAs for the whiteboard markers, we utilize a number of large whiteboards situated around the room where students can work both independently and in groups. This setup is used extensively during math time for students to demonstrate their thinking and help peers who encounter challenging trouble spots in their learning. Having an ample supply of quality whiteboard markers is key to these activities, and we've had plenty to use. I also have a chalk board table in the room that functions similarly to a whiteboard but utilizes chalk markers. The addition of these two stations in the room has significantly helped my students grow well in math knowledge and collaborative group work skills.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for providing all of this wonderful support for my kiddos!","fullyFundedDate":1754022181142,"projectUrl":"project/support-a-bright-beginning-for-my-3rd-gr/9513916/","projectTitle":"Support a Bright Beginning for My 3rd Graders!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jerry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9398409_orig.jpg?crop=3000,3000,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1701667158206","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9398409"},{"teacherId":9814993,"projectId":9591326,"letterContent":"Mahalo nui for the awesome shelves. This school year, my students will use the AeroGarden indoor gardens, seed pods, and mushroom grow kits to investigate plant biology, hydroponics, and sustainable growing techniques. Students will have the chance to plant, nurture, and observe a variety of herbs, vegetables, and mushrooms, tracking growth and experimenting with environmental factors. The suture practice pads will provide a unique, hands-on experience for students interested in medical science through my foundations of medical patient care elective course, helping them develop practical skills in wound care and suturing.\r\n\r\nAlthough the school year was ending, the students who saw the materials were instantly curious and enthusiastic for the next school year. They loved the futuristic look of the AeroGardens and were eager to learn more about how plants can grow indoors without soil. The suture pads sparked a lot of excitement among students interested in healthcare careers, who couldn't wait to try practicing suturing techniques next year.\r\n\r\nAs the new school year begins, students will start by planting seeds and kits in the AeroGardens and observe their growth through regular measurements and journaling. They'll design experiments to test variables like light and water and explore the science behind hydroponics and fungi growth. In medical science lessons, students will begin practicing suturing techniques and learn about wound healing processes. These experiences will build critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and practical skills that we will showcase in class presentations and projects throughout the year.","fullyFundedDate":1746786143635,"projectUrl":"project/creating-the-future-generation-of-agricu/9200614/","projectTitle":"Creating the Future Generation of Agriculture Through Hands-On Classroom Experiences","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DeRego","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9657226"},{"teacherId":4005031,"projectId":9174858,"letterContent":"Thank you for contributing to my Bin It To Win It! project. Please know that the impact of your contribution is anything but underwhelming. \r\n\r\nThese days, it is often challenging to get students to actually read a book. Granted, we do still have some avid bookworms, but many students would rather just scroll through TikTok or Instagram. I do everything I can to make books appealing and having brand new, clean, sweet smelling books helps. Keeping them in the sealed boxes that you provided until we are ready to use them helps in this area. \r\n\r\nLast year, I handed a brand-new book to a student. She opened it, stuck her nose in and took a big whiff. Then she grinned at me and said, \"Mmmmm. . . smells like smart!\" I totally got it: I, too, love that new-book smell. It's been incredible to see their focus and enthusiasm during these hands-on lessons.
