Your generosity gave my students access to books and learning experiences that allowed them to see themselves represented in the stories we read while also learning about the accomplishments, creativity, courage, and contributions of Black people throughout history.\r\n\r\nThese books became more than additions to our classroom library. We used them to strengthen reading comprehension, build vocabulary, practice writing, spark classroom conversations, and connect reading to social studies and history. My students especially enjoyed discovering people and stories they had not heard before and being able to make connections between the characters, historical figures, their own families, and themselves. Seeing children who looked like them represented positively in books created moments of pride, excitement, and curiosity in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me create a classroom where my students can learn that Black history is not limited to one month—it is part of American history and part of their story, too. Your support helped me provide meaningful lessons while reminding my students that their history, voices, dreams, and future matter.","fullyFundedDate":1738861198889,"projectUrl":"project/we-are-black-history/9044906/","projectTitle":"We are Black History","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vann","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7585916_orig.jpg?crop=928,928,x100,y79&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726655467632","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msgrantsclass"},{"teacherId":7585916,"projectId":9309710,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping make our \"Work Hard, Play Hard\" project possible! Because of your generosity, my students were able to end the school year with their own bags filled with resources that encouraged them to continue learning, reading, creating, and having fun throughout the summer. The books and Summer Brain Quest workbooks gave them opportunities to strengthen their reading and academic skills outside of the classroom, while the notebooks and creative activities encouraged them to write, draw, and express themselves.\r\n\r\nWhat made this project even more special was being able to give my students a balance of learning and play. The jump ropes, bubbles, sports equipment, art projects, and other summer goodies reminded them that learning does not always have to happen sitting at a desk. They were able to leave school knowing that people they may never meet believed in them enough to invest in their summer and their continued growth.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me send my students into the summer feeling celebrated, prepared, and excited.
