Your kindness has provided my students with so much more than just books. You have given them an opportunity to grow as readers, develop compassion, and discover the power of a meaningful story.\r\n\r\nHaving a class set of *Carry Me Home* allowed every student to hold their own copy, follow along during our reading lessons, and participate in meaningful conversations about the characters, their challenges, and the important messages within the story.\r\n\r\nThroughout our novel study, students strengthened essential fourth-grade Florida B.E.S.T. reading skills. They practiced identifying themes, analyzing character development, making inferences, using text evidence to support their answers, and summarizing important events. Students also explored how characters respond to challenges and how their experiences contribute to the overall message of a story.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful parts of this project was watching my students develop empathy and a deeper understanding of the challenges others may face. The story opened the door to thoughtful discussions about homelessness, family, friendship, kindness, and perseverance. My students began making connections between the characters' experiences and the world around them.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing students become excited about reading. Because of your generosity, my students experienced the joy of reading a novel together, sharing their thoughts, asking thoughtful questions, and learning from one another.\r\n\r\nYour donation has made a lasting impact on our classroom. Not only have you helped my students become stronger readers and critical thinkers, but you have also helped them grow into more compassionate and understanding individuals.\r\n\r\n**Thank you for believing in my students and investing in their love of reading. Their faces lit up with excitement, and they immediately began exploring and asking questions. For many of my students, this environment helped increase their focus, participation, and overall love for learning.\r\n\r\nThe space wasn't just festive—it became a meaningful part of our instruction. Students were more creative during writing, more engaged during reading, and more connected as a classroom community.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, learning felt special and memorable during this season. Every day, we use the new resources to bring lessons to life—whether we're \"exploring\" animal habitats, reading stories under our jungle canopy, or practicing phonics surrounded by visuals that spark their imagination. One of my favorite moments was seeing my students fully engaged during a reading lesson, pretending to be explorers while identifying animal sounds and patterns—it made learning feel real and exciting.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first walked in, their faces said it all—pure excitement and curiosity. Many of them immediately started asking questions, pointing things out, and connecting what they saw to what we've been learning. For some of my students, especially those who struggle to stay engaged, this environment has made a huge difference in their focus and participation.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, we're now building on that excitement by diving deeper into our Light and Sound unit, making connections between the environment around them and how animals communicate. We're also continuing to strengthen early literacy skills through imaginative play and hands-on learning in our jungle space.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a classroom where learning feels like an adventure—my students are growing, exploring, and thriving because of you.","fullyFundedDate":1758711336190,"projectUrl":"project/into-the-jungle-a-safari-adventure-in-f/9709844/","projectTitle":"Into the Jungle: A Safari Adventure in First Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Figueroa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9179886_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691853092930","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9179886"},{"teacherId":5017442,"projectId":9597767,"letterContent":"My students and I have had so much fun learning and playing with these supplies.
