Students are building vocabulary, practicing sentence structure, and learning how to express their ideas clearly in both speaking and writing. The books also focus on reading comprehension strategies like identifying main ideas, using context clues, and understanding how language works in different situations. In addition, they introduce real-world topics that help students build background knowledge while strengthening their confidence using English.\r\nReading in our classroom is very interactive and language-rich. Students often read short passages from the ELD books and then practice discussing what they've read with partners or small groups. You might hear students repeating sentence frames, asking each other questions, or working together to clarify meaning. We also spend time breaking down vocabulary and modeling how to use new words in complete sentences. The goal is to make reading a space where students feel safe practicing and growing their English skills every day.\r\nThese books have made a big difference for many of our English learners. Some students who were once quiet during reading time are now more willing to participate because they have the language support they need. Others are excited to recognize words and sentence patterns they've practiced and use them in conversation. It's especially rewarding to see students gain confidence, take risks, and feel proud of their progress as they become more comfortable reading and speaking in English.","fullyFundedDate":1767621892047,"projectUrl":"project/exceptional-eld/9952958/","projectTitle":"Exceptional ELD","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Terry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10257210_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757638052568","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10257210"},{"teacherId":10354375,"projectId":9905841,"letterContent":"The resources provided to my classroom have had a significant and positive impact on both my teaching and my students' learning experience. From the moment they were implemented, I noticed an immediate improvement in how smoothly our daily routines operated. These tools have created a more structured and supportive environment where students can thrive academically and socially.\r\nOne of the most noticeable benefits has been the increased level of organization within the classroom. With clear systems and accessible materials in place, both my students and I are able to locate and use resources efficiently. This has minimized downtime and allowed us to maximize our instructional minutes each day, ensuring that learning remains the primary focus.\r\nIn addition to organization, these resources have helped our classroom maintain a steady and productive pace. Transitions between activities are now quicker and more seamless, which has greatly reduced disruptions. As a result, students are more engaged and able to stay focused on their tasks, leading to improved participation and overall productivity.\r\nThe positive impact also extends to student independence and confidence. With the support of these resources, students are better equipped to take ownership of their learning. They are able to reference materials, follow established routines, and complete tasks with greater autonomy, which fosters a sense of responsibility and pride in their work.\r\nOverall, the resources have been an invaluable addition to my classroom. They have not only enhanced organization and efficiency but have also contributed to a more engaging and empowering learning environment. Many of my students benefit from structured routines, sensory regulation, and frequent reinforcement throughout the day. We use the snacks and drinks not only to meet basic needs, but also as part of our instructional program. For example, during our functional math lessons, students practice counting and adding up to five by distributing snack items to classmates. In communication lessons, students use their AAC devices, picture cards, or verbal language to request a preferred snack or drink. These real-life practice opportunities make learning meaningful and directly connected to everyday life skills.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and genuine. For some of my students, changes to routine can be challenging, but the addition of a consistent and positive snack routine has helped build anticipation and engagement. I saw students independently requesting items, making choices, and even practicing waiting appropriately for their turn. It was a powerful moment to see students who typically struggle with motivation become eager participants simply because the materials supported both their sensory and learning needs.\r\nNext, we are continuing to expand our functional life skills lessons. We are working on increasing independence with simple food preparation tasks, such as opening containers, cleaning up, and throwing items away appropriately. We are also incorporating social skills by practicing polite requesting, turn-taking, and peer interaction during snack time. Your generosity has not only helped meet a basic need, but it has also strengthened our classroom community and supported essential academic, communication, and daily living skills. We are so grateful for your support and for investing in our students' growth.","fullyFundedDate":1763474818037,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-learning-with-snacks-and-drinks/9497686/","projectTitle":"Fueling Learning with Snacks and Drinks","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cordova","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9967842_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741877768088","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9967842"},{"teacherId":10257210,"projectId":9709115,"letterContent":"My students are absolutely loving the new flexible seating!
