As the years have progressed, we have noticed that fewer and fewer students arrive with the supplies needed to be successful in the classroom at the start of the year. Some students have even expressed embarrassment about not having what they need and how it makes them feel different from their peers. By donating to provide our students with these supplies, each student began the year on a level playing field. Beyond that, we included student name labels inside the spine of each binder so that lost binders could be easily identified. Students were also encouraged to keep extra supplies in their lockers in case they ran out of something they needed.\r\n\r\nThe students have thrived using this organizational system of color-coded folders for each class. This allows them to easily keep track of materials for each subject. It also helps teachers, as we can simply say, \"Put this in your yellow folder,\" and every student has the exact same folder to use. It was immeasurably helpful to ensure that all students had pencils at the beginning of the year. This removed a barrier for classroom teachers, as we did not have to pause instruction to make sure everyone had what they needed—we were able to dive into academic content right away.\r\n\r\nMany parents reached out to us regarding this fundraiser, sharing how helpful it was to provide students with these materials at the start of the school year. They expressed appreciation for your generosity, and some even paid it forward to help support supplies for next year's team.
