My students are full of passion for all things they set their minds to doing. They are most easily engaged in hands on high interest activities with familiar visuals. Due to COVID, many of my students are working virtually. I am lacking interactive work tasks to engage students in pre-vocational skills virtually. I would like to use Teacher Pay Teacher gift cards to purchase units that have been built with interactive features at scaffolded levels of for a variety of learner abilities. Units would include job skills such as exploring a grocery store. The unit would list job roles at a grocery store then provide drag and drop opportunities. At a grocery store, activities include stocking shelves, matching prices to items, using a cash register and providing change. Examples of job sites include a cinema, a landscaping company, a shoe store, a donut shop, etc. Other units include skills of daily living that are important when having a job such as grooming, choosing clothes, nutrition, social skills, self regulation and accessing a bus route. By donating to this project you will help students to engage with high interest virtual activities that help them to find areas of passion and increase their ability to focus on task completion. You will also be helping the families of these students to envision future job sites that their child may have. This project will help to prepare students for meaningful work in their community. This project will take students to virtual workplaces. Your donation, like a good book, will allow students to explore beyond the walls of their homes.
