When I received the materials that I had asked to be purchased, I was overwhelmed by the generosity. \r\n\r\nI am a school psychologist in the building so I don't work with one individual classroom, so this not only impacted the children I work with on a daily basis, but also students throughout our alternative high school program, as well as any student who came down and needed some support in our Student Support office. \r\n\r\nThe games that were purchased have provided our NYSSA students awesome options when they have free time to choose an activity that they want to do. The games like \"Sorry\" give the students great exposure to help them build social skills and turn-taking skills, as well as teaching them on how to win with humility and how to lose with grace. \r\n\r\nThe snacks that were provided has given us the opportunity to create a prize box for students, as well as provide those much needed snacks when students might not be having their best days and need a nice pick me up.\r\n\r\nThe alternative sitting chair has been a huge help in our younger NYSSA classroom, providing a nice comfortable spot for our students to \"take a break\" from sitting at their regular desk. \r\n\r\nWe appreciate your generosity and helping our students in need at NTHS! Please know you have made an everlasting impact on our kiddos here and they asked me to let you know how much they appreciate these wonderful treats, games, and materials! You have been the reason for A LOT of wonderful smiles here!\r\n\r\nThank you! Thank you! We were able to make hygiene bags to give to our neediest students and families. This project also benefited our Work Based Learning classrooms as they are the students who put the hygiene bags together.\r\nThis project helped improve lives in two groups. First, anyway our neediest families can be provided with goods to make their lives a little less stressful it rebuilds positive mental health. Second, the students in the work based learning program build confidence and positive mental health by helping others and learning skills they will be able to use in the future.\r\nThe pictures included are the making of the hygiene bags and a photo of our Lumberjack loft where students in need can find clothes, shoes, school supplies, and hygiene products\r\nOver the past few years the needs of our families have increased. Many are dealing with housing and food insecurities. I am incredibly appreciative of your support, and I know that my students are as well. \r\n\r\nEach year, I spend hundreds of dollars on supplies for my classroom and I could not afford to purchase this rug for student seating at this time of year, so your generosity is truly appreciated. \r\n\r\nDue to the support that I have received from donors such as yourself, my classroom is a space where students are more likely to achieve academic success.
