I believe that a classroom is a community of learners and it should reflect that. My classroom is the only English classroom with tables. I prefer tables because it allows us to work together as a team. This helps us expand our thinking and learn valuable life skills. We learn to work together, accept each other including different perspectives in order to make progress. It's important for us to bond as a class, but also to recognize individuals and make sure everyone has a voice in the room. My educational philosophy is simple, the person that does the work does the learning and we all, teacher included, need to work hard to make real progress. My classroom is colorful: inspirational posters and student work are displayed everywhere. It's a space that is inviting and inspirational. I believe that all students can learn! I believe that choice and challenges change passive students to active students.
