The supplies you provided—ranging from a Polaroid camera and Photo Booth props to pancake shop tools, nail salon kits, bingo boards, shrinky dink sets, and face painting materials—transformed the fair into an engaging, hands-on learning experience. What once was an idea in the classroom became a bustling \"marketplace,\" where students not only practiced math skills but also explored the responsibilities of running a business, managing customers, and taking pride in their creativity.\r\n\r\nThe fair is a cornerstone project in our curriculum. Students form small companies, design their booths, and learn how to budget, track costs, and price their products or services to earn a profit. This year, because of your support, their booths were more authentic and exciting than ever before. At one booth, the pancake shop team carefully measured ingredients, cooked up treats, and kept track of every sale. At another, the nail salon crew offered colorful manicures while explaining the importance of customer service. Students at the bingo station filled the room with cheers and laughter as they ran game after game, while the shrinky dink group proudly designed charms and keychains that their peers could take home. The face painting booth drew a steady line of eager participants, and the Photo Booth tied everything together, allowing families and classmates to snap instant keepsakes of their special day.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw these materials, the energy in the classroom was electric. Many had never used a Polaroid camera before, and their faces lit up as they watched a photo appear and slowly develop in their hands. Others were excited to experiment with shrinky dinks, marveling at how the designs shrank in the oven into vibrant, durable pieces. The pancake team couldn't wait to try their hand at cooking, while the nail salon team proudly organized their colors and practiced designs. Every group immediately began brainstorming how to make their booth more appealing, talking about pricing strategies, decorations, and ways to attract customers. It was incredible to watch them take ownership of their work with such enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nSome of the most memorable moments came from students who are often quieter in the classroom. At the Photo Booth, a group of shy students came alive as they guided participants, posed them with props, and confidently handled the Polaroid camera. The shrinky dink team quickly discovered how math tied directly into their work—calculating supply costs, timing their baking cycles, and figuring out profit margins. Meanwhile, the pancake shop crew learned to balance speed with accuracy, making sure they didn't run out of supplies while still keeping customers happy. Each booth became a real-world example of the lessons we cover in class, from ratios to percentages, and showed students how math can be both practical and rewarding.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the lessons from this project will continue to shape our classroom. In math, we are building on the fair by diving deeper into concepts like unit rate, percentages, and financial literacy. Students can now connect these topics to their own experiences: calculating discounts just like the nail salon offered, or tracking profit margins as the bingo team did. We also plan to use the Polaroid camera throughout the year for documenting projects, creating visual galleries of math concepts, and even capturing geometry in the real world. The supplies you funded will continue to spark creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in ways that extend far beyond the fair.\r\n\r\nYour support made this all possible. You gave my students the chance to dream, to build, and to experience the pride of seeing their hard work pay off. The laughter, smiles, and excitement at the business fair were priceless, and the skills they gained—teamwork, entrepreneurship, problem-solving—will serve them for years to come. On behalf of all 120 of my students, thank you for believing in them and for making learning both meaningful and memorable.","fullyFundedDate":1742940946678,"projectUrl":"project/business-adventures/9188782/","projectTitle":"Business Adventures","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pinkerton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4719099_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1655905207639","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4719099"},{"teacherId":4719099,"projectId":9172548,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our 7th grade students were able to use a Polaroid camera and Photo Booth supplies during our business fair, which made the event even more engaging and memorable. The technology gave students the chance to create lasting keepsakes while also learning about how photography can be incorporated into marketing and customer engagement—skills that connect directly to real-world business practices. For many of our students, it was their first experience using instant-print technology, and they were fascinated by how quickly their photos developed and how they could share them immediately.\r\n\r\nThe Photo Booth became one of the highlights of the fair, drawing students, staff, and families in to participate. Students were excited to design props, set up backdrops, and use the Polaroid camera to bring their vision to life. It gave them a sense of ownership and pride, while also teaching teamwork, creativity, and customer service. One group even noticed how the camera attracted more visitors to their booth, sparking great conversations about advertising strategies and how presentation impacts sales.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who are often quieter in class found their voices behind the camera—snapping pictures, encouraging others to pose, and showcasing their leadership skills. Others loved the tangible, hands-on aspect of seeing their photos appear right before their eyes. Overall, these supplies transformed our business fair into not just an academic project, but an unforgettable, interactive experience that combined creativity, entrepreneurship, and technology in a meaningful way.","fullyFundedDate":1742915345048,"projectUrl":"project/shake-it-like-a-polaroid-picture/9172548/","projectTitle":"Shake It Like a Polaroid Picture","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pinkerton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4719099_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1655905207639","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4719099"},{"teacherId":9264546,"projectId":9192624,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the new materials arrive, their faces lit up with excitement! They love having that flexible seating option back, and I can already see how much more engaged they are when they're comfortable and have a choice in where they sit. The wireless mouse and keyboard have also been a game-changer—students who used to get nervous about standing at the board now feel confident participating from their seats. It has opened the door for quieter voices to shine during our lessons.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far was using the easy press with my students to design t-shirts as a way to celebrate everything we've been through this year. After a tough season, it felt so good to watch them create something joyful together and proudly wear it. The portable whiteboard and rolling cart have also made our classroom run so much smoother. Students now know exactly where to find paper, assignments, and materials, and having standards and team information up on the new board keeps everyone on track.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're using these resources to support our end-of-year reflections and to get ready for the new school year.
