Your support has made such a wonderful difference for our students! Because of your kindness, our classroom is now filled with colorful pencils, markers, notebooks, and other materials that help make learning engaging and fun every single day.\r\n\r\nThe students absolutely love using their new supplies. Whether they're writing stories, solving math problems, or creating art projects, their excitement and pride shine through in everything they do. These resources not only help them learn but also inspire creativity, confidence, and a true love for school.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and care. My students are growing up surrounded by it and in our classroom, they are learning how to use it independently and responsibly. At such a young age, they are able to log on to a Chromebook, navigate educational programs, and complete activities that support their individual learning goals in reading and math.\r\n\r\nBefore this project, our class headphones were mismatched. Many were missing ear pads, others only worked on one side, and a few had exposed wires. It made using technology frustrating for my students and honestly difficult for me to manage. With our new headphones, students can fully focus on their work.\r\n\r\nThe difference is night and day. Students love that the headphones are soft, comfortable, and adjustable. Having reliable headphones makes our literacy and math centers run smoothly and helps students stay focused and independent.\r\n\r\nOne of my students used to really struggle with the old headphones. Now, she can adjust her new pair to fit comfortably and is much more engaged during Chromebook time. It's such a joy to see her smiling and participating without any irritation!\r\n\r\nThanks to this project, my students can now use technology as it's meant to be used: in a way that supports them to learn every single day. I am so incredibly grateful for your generosity! Your support will have a lasting impact on our classroom and my students and I both thank you! :)","fullyFundedDate":1753034484035,"projectUrl":"project/lets-turn-up-the-learning/9459144/","projectTitle":"Let's Turn Up the Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Costello","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10077183_orig.jpg?crop=4284,4284,x0,y1428&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752723145506","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10077183"},{"teacherId":9828038,"projectId":9090303,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my students received their very own leather-bound nature journals and fine-tipped colored pens—and the impact has been incredible.\r\n\r\nThe moment my students saw the journals, their eyes lit up with excitement. They were so proud to have something that felt personal, meaningful, and \"official.\" That excitement hasn't worn off. In fact, it has grown as we've found new and creative ways to use them in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe've used the journals across multiple subjects:\r\nIn science, students observed and recorded weather patterns using academic vocabulary during our weather unit.\r\nIn language arts, they picked flowers from our school garden, gave them names, and wrote their \"life stories\" using figurative language—all while sitting outside and connecting deeply with nature.\r\nThey've drawn and labeled diagrams during science experiments, including flower dissections and lessons on leaf structure.\r\nDuring SEL morning warmups, the journals became a reflective space where students respond to fun and thoughtful prompts like, \"If you could have any food for breakfast, no rules, what would it be?\" or \"Would you rather live by the beach or in the mountains? Why?\" These prompts not only spark creativity but also build essential writing and critical thinking skills—without students even realizing they're learning.\r\n\r\nWatching my students take ownership of their learning and embrace the outdoors has been incredibly rewarding. They are more engaged in science and writing than ever before, and they've developed a sense of pride in their work and personal growth.\r\n\r\nAs we wrap up the school year, students will write goodbye letters at the back of their journals—turning them into keepsakes of their 6th grade journey. I hope these journals stay with them as a reminder of their curiosity, creativity, and connection to the world around them.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your generosity has truly brought joy, inspiration, and lasting impact to our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1738882512236,"projectUrl":"project/exploring-nature-journals-for-outdoor-l/9090303/","projectTitle":"Exploring Nature: Journals for Outdoor Learning and Reflection","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Slezak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9828038_orig.jpg?crop=3075,3075,x276,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738294669272","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9828038"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39925","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":386,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":78,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"21.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":39925,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Nipomo Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Nipomo Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/lucia-mar-unified-school-district/nipomo-elementary-school/39925"}
