We are using the drawstring backpacks as Success Kits for my students. Each kit is equipped with a fidget bracelet and an LED light-up spinner, which serve as vital self-regulation tools.\r\n\r\nDuring our daily quiet reading time, students use their vintage feather bookmarks to keep their place, while the inspirational notepads have become Reflection Journals. In these journals, students write down one positive thing that happened during the day, helping them build a growth mindset.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes from Amazon Business arrived, the excitement in the room was electric. One student, who often struggles with sensory processing, immediately put on a silicone motivational wristband and said, \"This reminds me I can do hard things.\" Seeing their faces light up—quite literally with the LED fidget bracelets—was a reminder of how much it means to them to have high-quality resources that are just for them. It made them feel seen, valued, and supported by a community larger than just our classroom walls.\r\n\r\nWith these materials now part of our daily routine, our next step is a Peer Support Project. Students will be using their notepads to write anonymous kudos to their classmates, focusing on the messages found on their motivational bracelets. We are also integrating the fidget tools into our Calm Down Corner curriculum, where students learn to identify when they need a sensory break to stay on track with their lessons.","fullyFundedDate":1655137574014,"projectUrl":"project/the-2022-experience/6412127/","projectTitle":"The 2022 Experience","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wallace","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2952682_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1490791805976","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/k-wallace"},{"teacherId":3789446,"projectId":9382304,"letterContent":"Thank you for your contributions to our classroom. The students were overjoyed when our rug, storage drawers, marker holders and erasers were delivered to our classroom. They were excited to help unpack and assemble the drawers. They assisted with the transfer of their headphones and other supplies to their assigned drawer and helped organize their markers in the holders above the drawers and 'parked' their magnetic dry erase markers in their assigned parking spot. The organization these items have provided leads to smooth transitions and more time on tasks. The students know exactly where to go to gather the items that they need and get to work quickly. \r\n In addition to these items they are especially excited about the classroom rug we received. Their reactions when we opened the rug was priceless. They could not wait to begin using it. They kept saying \"Thank you donors\" over and over. The rug has quickly become their favorite spot to do group and partner work. It is our meeting spot for community circles and for whole group learning. \r\n Our classroom is obviously where we spend much of our day and adding these few items has brought much joy to our everyday routines. Your donation has done so much more than just purchase books; it has opened the door to a truly shared and immersive literary experience for every student in our classroom.\r\n\r\nBefore your gift, we relied on a single copy or outdated, damaged books. Now, every student has their own beautiful copy, and the educational impact is already significant. Because every student has a book in their hands, we can now implement Reader's Workshop strategies like marking text, writing margin notes, and immediately referencing specific passages. This hands-on connection dramatically increases their reading comprehension and close-reading skills.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, we are now able to focus on the rich language and themes—like friendship, sacrifice, and the cycle of life—in E. B. White's classic. This shared vocabulary and conceptual understanding will directly translate into stronger, more expressive student writing. Having a class set means we can read together, at the same pace, allowing for immediate, deep classroom discussions. It fosters a communal love for reading and transforms the classroom into a safe space for students to share their interpretations and feelings about literature. Most importantly, your donation ensures that every student, regardless of their background or access to resources at home, has their own high-quality text to read and keep in their desk, ready for every lesson.\r\n\r\nWe have already begun our reading adventure, and the students are completely captivated by Wilbur, Charlotte, and Templeton. Seeing their faces light up when they read the first web message, \"SOME PIG,\" confirms the immense value of your gift. Thank you again for believing in my students and for supporting a foundational literacy project.
