Teaching vocabulary is always a tough subject to get my students behind. This skill is a vital part of my students being able to reach their 10th grade benchmark for reading comprehension. At the end of the year all 10th graders in the state of Florida are required to take a reading comprehension test that is a graduation requirement to pass. This test will challenge students to read passages and interact with them in a variety of ways. One of the top areas of struggle for students on this test is struggling to comprehend the passages due to the vocabulary in them. By helping explicitly teach academic vocabulary to my students they have a leg up on the test.\r\n\r\nAgain, I want to thank you for your support. My appreciation is just not explained well enough by my words. Your support truthfully helps my students thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1746785940723,"projectUrl":"project/vocabulary-and-comprehension/9272589/","projectTitle":"Vocabulary and Comprehension","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Selleck","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9598124_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721312257732","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9598124"},{"teacherId":9598124,"projectId":9243498,"letterContent":"The gratitude I have for your donation is impossible to put into words. Teaching Shakespeare is always a tough subject to get my students behind. I love reading and want my students to do the same. However, often times when you put a difficult text in front of them, like Shakespeare, they usually get turned off even faster. \r\n\r\nThe last run of Macbeth books we had were quite literally falling apart. This makes it very difficult to ensure that all students were getting the full text. This new set will keep together much better, and they have been reenforced. The graphic novels will be a HUGE support for my students. The visual example provides so much context and really helps the students grasp the material and be engaged. They genuinely enjoy the story when that understanding kicks in. \r\n\r\nAgain, I want to thank you!! Your support helps my students flourish!! My words are just not enough!!
