The students get so excited to work toward these rewards, and it truly motivates them to try their best. Playdough is another classroom favorite—it supports fine motor skills, creativity, and hands-on learning in a way that feels like play. And our reading area has become a cozy, welcoming space where students love to sit with a book, especially when they have comfortable chairs that make reading feel special.\r\n\r\nDonations like these allow me to give my students meaningful experiences that build confidence, independence, and a genuine love for learning. One student, after researching axolotls, created a detailed diorama of its habitat—complete with carefully painted plants, rocks, and a miniature version of the amphibian itself. Another has been eagerly preparing to paint a portrait of Abraham Lincoln as part of his historical research, while a third is building an ocean diorama inspired by his study of whales. Watching them translate their research into vivid, hands-on creations has been truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their excitement filled the room. Many immediately began planning how they could elevate their projects—sketching ideas, testing colors, and imagining details they could now bring to life. The color printer allowed me to print visuals and activities to support students in using the Zones of Regulation curriculum. The Zones of Regulation curriculum helps teach self-regulation skills to students. They learn about emotions, which emotions correlate to each of the 4 color zones (blue, green, yellow, and red) and tools to use to manage their emotions.\r\n\r\nThese visuals help students better understand the Zones and coping strategies. When students begin to understand how to use coping strategies to self-regulate, they are more successful in completing academic tasks and building stamina to complete schoolwork.
