All of the items we were able to have for our classroom have been very popular with the kiddos and are helping them to cope and learn. As you know, my kiddos are in an IBI-3 unit, they have behavior regulation issues, they are autistic, have ADHD and/or have experienced trauma. Several of the sensory toys help with spatial relationships and building projects, the bead maze, the magnetic blocks, the Lego dinosaurs, cars and trucks are all. happily being utilized. My creative kiddos love the etch-a-sketch. We can work on focusing and concentration skills by playing Jenga and blowing bubbles. Several love to set up the barnyard with the animals and tractors. \r\nFidget toys are utilized by all and the wide variety has been helpful. I was so pleased to be able to get the spaceship/planets rug and accompanying planet fidget toy, perfect timing for our NASA spaceship launch here in Florida, \r\nThe rug and the dinosaur chairs make the room more comfy and provide a warm environment that assures they are in a safe space. AND the plush....oh my, they absolutely love their big bear and immediately named him Mr. Snuggles. The manatee and alligator are awesome and the kiddos know their Florida creatures. The weighted Stitch gets held and cuddled too, in this way the kiddos are able to utilize the plush as coping strategies for sad, frustrated, confused, and angry feelings.\r\nMy personal favorite are the puppets! These plush creatures and especially the shark (with an internal squeaker) our school mascot, are proving to be an excellent way to express feelings, share experiences, and improve communication skills. And I am so happy I have the puppet stand to keep all clean and on display so they are easily reached and often utilized. \r\nAgain, I thank you and so do these children. The laminator is a very necessary addition; it helps me stay organized. I can laminate charts, lists, schedule etc. to keep me \"operating smoothly. I also laminated several illustrations to hang on my white board to help the kiddos identify emotional regulation. Other teachers use it as well! \r\n\r\nMost of my students are high functioning autistic children. All the sensory toys help my students with spatial relationships, grounding, and just fun! In the short period of time that I have had these items, I have found them to be fascinated, creative, and excited to play with everything. I have a Lego dinosaur that is almost completed and a Lego sports car almost ready for the road. I love to see that they are able to read directions and build things independently. The magnetic blocks and magnetic plastic shapes quickly turn into houses, buildings, and furniture. My younger kiddos love the finger mazes and bead maze, they spend a lot of time with them. Very good tactile sensorics.\r\n\r\nThe puppets are a huge success! And I am so glad I got the stand for them to sit on, making them more accessible and keeping them clean. I am extracting wonderful narratives, and their storytelling abilities are improving. I plan to advance to having them produce a play with their characters. The Jenga is an excellent tool for my ADHD kiddos to use for working on concentration and reducing impulsivity. The interest level is high and I am seeing improved skills already. We have enjoyed blowing bubbles and balancing them on the stick to practice focusing as well. I am glad I got that set of little jars for them! My artists love the etch a sketch and have a new outlet for their talent. \r\n\r\nMy carpet with the planets brightened up the modular unit we are in and made it more comfy. They love picking out the planets and my space planet fidget is a big favorite. I got two chairs with dinosaurs, and they are so soft and comfy to sit in, they love it. My giant teddy bear has already been named Mr. Snuggles and the kids love him. My plush alligator, manatee and of course the weighted Stitch are adored. I cannot thank you enough for all the learning/play opportunities you have provided for these students. You have brought so much joy, ways to express, and grow it is amazing. Having their own tools helps them stay attentive and excited during lessons. It is amazing to see the change! They are staying on task longer, working more collaboratively, and taking more pride in their work.\r\n\r\nThe markers have also helped transform our lessons into more hands-on, interactive experiences.
