During this time of social distancing, students are isolated to their desks for longer periods of time. The lap desks will help students by allowing them the freedom of being away from their desk and working with partners. I like to offer a change from the normal sitting desk chair, and have alternative areas within the room that move students from desk to floors and lap desks. Students need to move around but continue to be engaged and learning. I think movement in the room makes learning more enjoyable and comfortable for the students. Sitting at a desk all day is not an enjoyable experience for a child and I want to make sure my class has several opportunities for students to move about while they are learning. In addition, my students need markers, party favors, novelty toys, and other supplies and rewards to encourage their learning engagement.
