The language-learning books introduce students to new vocabulary, cultures, and ways of communicating, while the sign language books allow students to learn basic signs and better understand another form of communication. Several students were already interested in learning different languages and sign language, so these books have provided resources for interests that were already there.\r\n\r\nIn the library, students are encouraged to choose books based on their own interests and curiosity. These books have been especially exciting for students who may not always gravitate toward traditional fiction. I have already seen students pick them up simply because they want to learn something new or teach themselves a few words or signs. That kind of curiosity is exactly what I want to encourage in our library.\r\n\r\nBecause our library does not have a designated budget, I would not have had a way to provide these resources for our students without this donation. Your donation is not just putting books on shelves—it is opening doors for students who are discovering reading in meaningful and personal ways.\r\n\r\nAs a school librarian, I work with middle and high school students who have a wide range of reading interests, abilities, and experiences. Some students come to the library as avid readers who are always looking for their next favorite book. Others are still trying to find the book that will spark their interest and help them see themselves as readers. Many of my students face academic, personal, and social challenges that can make it difficult to engage with reading. Because of this, having access to high-interest, diverse, and engaging books is essential.\r\n\r\nYour support allows me to build a more vibrant and inclusive library collection. The books funded through this project will help students find stories that reflect their lives, introduce them to new perspectives, and encourage them to explore ideas beyond their own experiences. When they are exposed to new perspectives, it builds empathy and broadens their understanding of the world.","fullyFundedDate":1772725860876,"projectUrl":"project/fresh-ya-reads-to-inspire-teen-readers/10087643/","projectTitle":"Fresh YA Reads to Inspire Teen Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smothers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10022442_orig.jpg?crop=286,286,x46,y81&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746987848999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10022442"},{"teacherId":9471199,"projectId":9905413,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our forensic science and anatomy materials are now being used into our lessons!
