While the State of New Jersey has enacted legislation requiring public schools serving grades 6-12 to provide menstrual products, this support does not extend to our students during off-school hours. \r\n\r\nCiting the NJ State Legislature, the need to \"provide for the health, dignity, and safety of menstruating students at every socioeconomic level, as well as to help normalize menstruation among all\" is real. For our struggling female students, the need to stay healthy and clean does not end when the school day ends. The bags always include protein, fruits and vegetables, a starch or carbohydrate (such as rice or pasta), and items such as soap or deodorant. During longer school breaks, we have been able to send home boxes of provisions for our most vulnerable students. Your contributions have ensured that our students are able to worry less about securing food or staying clean and more about achieving academic success.
