What was once just a topic in a book quickly transformed into a real, interactive experience.\r\n\r\nThey have built insect homes with magnet tiles, examined bugs in the insect viewer and were fascinated by the Lakeshore Real Bugs. One of the favorite moments of my students was the \"bug hunt\" small group we did recently. I hid plastic bugs around the classroom and the students looked around the classroom for them, then we joined as a group and sorted them. \r\n\r\nAs we continue our study, the next step is for students to deepen their understanding by documenting their observations through drawings, storytelling, and observing our classroom caterpillars. \r\n\r\nYour support has created meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that my students will carry with them long after this unit ends. These were a blessing to our classroom and the students really had to exercise patience, since they wanted to see a plant in an instant. \r\nWho knows if any of our kids will ever get to plant again, but they did in our classroom and the exposure they received due to your generous spirit, made this all possible.\r\nThank you so much for giving to this program and my hope is that they gain a love of planning, planting and harvesting so that they can enjoy the fruits of their labor.\r\nOnce again, thank you so much....you are really appreciated","fullyFundedDate":1741292574404,"projectUrl":"project/growing-plants-and-kids/9113234/","projectTitle":"Growing Plants and Kids!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Davis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2390911_orig.jpg?crop=408,408,x396,y240&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755553831524","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2390911"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41813","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":272,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":12,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":57,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":36.4,"schoolId":41813,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Monterey Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Monterey Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/harrison-school-district-two/monterey-elementary-school/41813"}
