Throughout the day, they choose seating that best supports their focus and learning style, whether that means spreading out on the rug for group discussions, relaxing on a cushion while reading, or sitting on a stool during independent work. This variety has encouraged greater student ownership, collaboration, and movement, while also helping them stay more attentive and motivated. The flexible seating has truly transformed our classroom into a welcoming space where students feel empowered and excited to learn.\r\n\r\n Most of my students come from low-income families, so when they walked into the classroom and saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate and heartfelt. Many of them don't often have access to brand-new or comfortable learning resources, so the area rug, floor chairs, cushions, and stools felt like something truly special. Their faces lit up with joy as they explored the space, and they were eager to use each item with care and appreciation. This experience not only boosted their enthusiasm for learning but also helped them feel valued and supported, knowing their classroom is a place designed with their comfort and success in mind.\r\n\r\nAs we prepare for the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST), the next steps for my students involve using flexible seating intentionally to build stamina, focus, and independence during testing-like conditions. Students will practice choosing the seating option that best supports their concentration—whether that's a stool for upright posture or a floor cushion for comfort—while completing timed practice tasks that mirror the structure of the FAST assessment. We will gradually increase the length and rigor of these practice sessions so students can strengthen their endurance and self-regulation. Additionally, I will guide them in reflecting on which seating choices help them stay on task and manage test-related stress, ensuring they feel confident, prepared, and in control on test day.","fullyFundedDate":1769177511069,"projectUrl":"project/sit-stand-learn-repeat/9938461/","projectTitle":"Sit, Stand, Learn, Repeat","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Munoz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6289611_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758657722654","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6289611"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42714","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":408,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"10.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.2,"schoolId":42714,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Montclair Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Montclair Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/clay-county-school-district/montclair-elementary-school/42714"}
