For example, during writing time, students use the clipboards to practice writing stories and sentences. They love using the flair pens because the colors make writing fun and exciting, and it gives them a sense of creativity when they see their work pop on the page.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement! They were like omg its a white board too. They were eager to try out the colorful flair pens and couldn't wait to start writing. It's been a great way to encourage them to practice letter formation and storytelling.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're focusing on improving their writing skills by working on a class project where they write short stories about their favorite places. Using the clipboards has made it easier for them to move around the room and collaborate in pairs. The next step is for them to practice editing their work and illustrating their stories to create a class book we can share with everyone.","fullyFundedDate":1734099420877,"projectUrl":"project/little-authors-sparking-creativity-thro/8874483/","projectTitle":"Little Authors: Sparking Creativity Through Kindergarten Writing!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Melonie Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8529516_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690840354861","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8529516"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70857","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":141,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":89,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"6.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":52.7,"schoolId":70857,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Monroe Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Monroe Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/missouri/st-louis-public-schools/monroe-elementary-school/70857"}
