Many teaching and learning opportunities are accessible because of this. After visiting a book garden, we decided to look for ways in which we could add more literacy to our current outdoor spaces. How can we add books that can be accessed every day by student gardeners? Books! How can we be sure our books are durable and last in a gardening environment? Sturdy laminating! \r\n\r\nThe Book Ends, our fifth-grade library leaders, decided to tackle this project. This service project included choosing garden and outdoor learning books that students could use to enhance their outdoor learning. The Book Ends then took the books apart and used the new heavy-duty laminator. This was just the preparation behind the service learning.\r\n\r\nThe Book Ends were able to introduce the new books to our youngest learners in the school garden. The books are now available for all visitors to the garden, whether they are visiting the garden during the school day or after school.","fullyFundedDate":1760981398335,"projectUrl":"project/growing-food-literacy/9771691/","projectTitle":"Growing Food & Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Uppena","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5776342_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1536027842963","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-uppena"},{"teacherId":5776342,"projectId":9802059,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our \"Driven by Gears\" project.
