These books will enhance my literacy instruction by serving as mentor texts to teach important literary elements. My students will find these picture books both engaging and accessible as we learn important comprehension, decoding, and fluency skills. Quality literacy instruction demands quality literature. These books will be used primarily as read aloud books, which helps build a strong sense of community in the classroom. Time spent together reading is one of the best ways to teach children important literacy skills, but also develops trust and rapport with students. These books will fuel a love for reading, learning, and curiosity in my students.
