We hook it up to show science videos, pull up interactive lessons, and the kids love seeing things on the big screen instead of squinting at my old laptop. Last week we were learning about the solar system, and I used the solar system model kit you donated along with some videos from NASA on the projector. The kids were passing around the planets and comparing them to what we were seeing on screen. It was one of those lessons where nobody wanted to go to recess!\r\n\r\nThe sheet pans might seem random, but they've been perfect for organizing our math manipulatives and doing small group activities. We used them for a fractions lesson where kids sorted different pieces, and it kept everything contained. The construction paper and sheet protectors help us keep student work and our classroom charts looking good and lasting longer.\r\n\r\nWhen the Boxes Arrived:\r\n\r\nMy students went crazy when all the packages showed up. When I set up the projector for the first time, they actually clapped. One kid said it was like having our own movie theater. The mini basketball hoop on the back of the door has been a hit too—it's become the reward for finishing work early or winning our Friday quiz game. And that solar system kit started this whole argument about Pluto that I'm still hearing about!\r\n\r\nYou guys really made a difference for these kids. The rolling whiteboard became a place where students independently tracked homework assignments and daily tasks; they appreciated being able to refer to the board rather than having to ask for repeated directions. There's usually only so much a parent (and their child can take), and some resort to their phones to try and quell their child.\r\n\r\nThis opportunity allows us to build task boxes for a variety of students -- based on both age, gender, and interests! We are building 10 different bins, each with its own unique theme. Once we start a meeting, we can take out a couple bins for a student to pick from, and hopefully find some cognitive and sensory activities to entertain them through the meeting. The items in the bins can also be used as \"talking points\" to build discussions and interaction with the students as well with some of the participants in the meeting.\r\n\r\nThere is so much appreciation to build these, which can be used, yes, for entertaining a studnet, but also allow for interaction with team members in the meeting that will give us more data about the student!
