They reacted with a lot of \"oohs\" and \"aahs,\" especially over the wobbly stool.\r\nInitially, some students needed a little guidance on how to use the options responsibly—understanding that a wobble stool is for gentle movement, not spinning. However, after a quick lesson on \"Choosing What You Need\" versus \"Choosing What You Want,\" they quickly adapted.\r\n\r\nIn Speech Therapy Groups, the flexible seating helps create a calm and regulated environment essential for communication practice. A student working on articulation often finds it easier to focus on producing sounds correctly when using a sensory cushion on their chair to meet their sensory needs, rather than being forced into a rigid desk chair. In class, a student is able to get their sensory needs met at their desks, rather than jumping up and down for the sensory input.\r\n\r\nThank you again!","fullyFundedDate":1756224426154,"projectUrl":"project/get-my-wiggles-out/9630473/","projectTitle":"Get My Wiggles Out","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gabbie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8683015_orig.png?crop=300,300,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755700059363","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8683015"},{"teacherId":9425225,"projectId":9595743,"letterContent":"The generous funding provided by Donors Choose through my project \"Speak, Play, Grow!\" has made significant and immediate positive therapeutic outcomes in the speech room. The introduction of the new rug has instantly transformed the space, creating a more comfortable and visually defined area that encourages students to gather and feel more at ease during their sessions. The students' initial reaction was one of physical excitement and elation; they were seen rolling on the rug, claiming a designated spot, and eagerly discussing how much they loved the addition. This increased comfort and defined space has improved student engagement and overall participation, as students are more eager to enter the room and remain focused on activities. The welcoming atmosphere naturally fosters a more open setting for communication, prompting students to interact more freely with one another and the therapist.\r\n\r\nThe addition of the two new therapeutic games, the Shark game and the Pirate Ship game, has been instrumental in boosting motivation and engagement. These highly motivating and visually engaging games have served as powerful rewards, successfully increasing the students' willingness to complete challenging language and articulation tasks. By embedding target goals within these games, I've observed an increase in the number of communication opportunities and a sustained level of student interest, making the process more effective and enjoyable. The funds raised have directly enhanced and elevated the speech room by creating a more inviting, engaging, and productive space for every student.","fullyFundedDate":1755699999296,"projectUrl":"project/speak-play-grow/9595743/","projectTitle":"Speak, Play, Grow!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vincent","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9425225_orig.png?crop=433,433,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1706040172023","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9425225"},{"teacherId":7827821,"projectId":9541203,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our classroom. Our new smiley face rainbow rug has become the heart of our room. It's where we gather each morning for our class meetings, read-alouds, and group discussions. The students love having their own colorful spot to sit, and it's created such a warm and welcoming space for learning.\r\n\r\nWe've also been using the whiteboard clipboards and erasers during small-group lessons and independent practice. The students enjoy writing answers right on their clipboards during math and spelling activities—it makes learning feel interactive and fun! The Skittles have been a sweet reward system that keeps everyone motivated and excited to participate. It's amazing how something so small can encourage such big effort and positivity!\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived, the excitement was contagious! The students gasped when they saw the bright rainbow rug being rolled out and immediately began picking their favorite color spots to sit on. They were just as thrilled to try out the new whiteboard clipboards and couldn't stop erasing and rewriting answers. Of course, the Skittles were an instant hit—lots of smiles and even more motivation to do their best work!\r\n\r\nWe're continuing to use the whiteboard clipboards and erasers daily as we practice problem-solving and writing skills. The rug will remain our meeting place for class discussions, story time, and collaborative learning. Our next step is to begin a series of small-group reading lessons right on the rainbow rug, where students can use their clipboards to jot down ideas and responses. It's amazing to see how just a few minutes of jumping can lift their spirits and help them return to class feeling ready to learn and connect.\r\n\r\nMore than anything, the trampolines have brought confidence and happiness to our students.
