Students now use these tools every week to keep a steady beat, echo and create rhythm patterns, and move expressively while they listen. The first time the new materials came out, children rushed to choose a scarf or a pair of sticks, waved ribbons in time with the music, and grinned when the wooden blocks and clave made a clear, satisfying sound they could control themselves.\r\nThese instruments have let me teach beat, rhythm, form, and ensemble skills through movement instead of only through sitting and clapping. Kindergarten and first-grade students who need to move are especially engaged, they can show the beat with scarves and ribbons while older students layer ostinatos on sticks, blocks, and clave. Next we will use the same set to compose short class rhythm pieces and prepare a simple performance so families can see how much the students have grown. Your gift put real instruments in every child's hands and made music class more joyful and successful for all of them.","fullyFundedDate":1778880287073,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-students-find-their-rhythm/10256571/","projectTitle":"Help Our Students Find Their Rhythm!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Crystal","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10272492_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758414726338","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10272492"},{"teacherId":10272492,"projectId":9954665,"letterContent":"Thank you for making these pBone plastic trombones possible for our 5th grade Introduction to Band students. Because the instruments are so light, even our smallest players can hold them up with ease and keep a good playing position for the whole class period. The first time the trombones came out of the boxes, students were so excited and immediately started comparing how little they weighed compared to a regular trombone; several said, \"I can actually hold this!\" We put them to work that same week learning the first slide positions and playing simple rhythms together.\r\nThose early successes have given the class real confidence. Students are now using the pBones every day to practice first notes, short songs, and basic ensemble skills. Next we will put those pieces together into a short class performance so families can hear what the students have learned, then move on to a few more notes and a simple concert melody. Because of your generosity, I was able to transform my classroom walls with colorful bulletin board paper, creating a bright, welcoming space where students feel excited to learn. I was so proud to see the vision come to life and to share it with my students and their families. Your donation did so much more than add color to my classroom. It helped create an environment that feels joyful, inviting, and full of possibility.\r\n\r\nThe excitement has continued long after Open House. Students who I do not even teach will walk by, lean into my classroom, and tell me how \"cool\" it looks! My own students come through the door each morning excited to be in our colorful learning space. That excitement is contagious and fuels my own enthusiasm for teaching each day. When I walk into a room that makes me happy and proud, that joy naturally carries into my teaching.\r\nThank you for investing in my classroom and, most importantly, in my students. Your generosity has brought bright, colorful, lightweight plastic trumpets into our elementary band classroom, and the impact has been truly inspiring. These pTrumpets are durable, easy-to-hold instruments that weigh less than half of traditional brass trumpets. They have made learning brass basics accessible and fun for all our young musicians, especially our younger students who sometimes struggled with heavier instruments.\r\nThe moment the pTrumpets arrived, the excitement in the room was electric! Students' eyes lit up as they unpacked the vibrant trumpets, and many immediately started buzzing on the mouthpieces and trying out simple notes. One student excitedly said, \"This is so light. I can hold it forever without my arms getting tired!\" We've been using them daily in class to build strength, practice basics, and play simple melodies together. In a recent highlight, our beginners formed a small ensemble to perform \"Hot Cross Buns\" for the class. The authentic Bb trumpet sound they produce has allowed even our most hesitant players to join in confidently and stay engaged longer during class.\r\nLooking ahead, these pTrumpets are helping us take the next steps in our current unit on ensemble playing and music reading. With the confidence they're building, we're planning to introduce more challenging rhythms and dynamics soon. Your donation has opened the door to lifelong music appreciation for these students. When the pTrumpets first arrived, the students' eyes lit up with wonder; they gasped at the bright colors and immediately wanted to try them. One fifth-grader exclaimed, \"It's like a real trumpet but so much lighter, I can actually play without my arms getting tired!\" We've been using them daily in lessons, where kids practice buzzing. Your support has removed barriers and given every student the chance to experience the joy of making music.\r\nThese pTrumpets have already sparked a deeper love for band among the kids, with several students asking to practice at home and even recruiting friends to join next quarter. Looking ahead, we're building on this momentum with our spring concert preparations. The students are now working on a fun medley of familiar tunes, learning to blend sections, count rhythms together, and add dynamics for expression. Your generosity has opened the door to these musical adventures and helped build lasting confidence and teamwork in our young musicians.\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in our students and investing in their growth through music.
