They are intrigued by World War II's history and its impact on individuals, both fictional and real-life people who survived. Reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is a great way to learn about history, but we are also using it to look into differing perspectives with a character study and the literary devices used throughout. \r\n\r\nAs with most novel studies in school, we spend part of the week reading and dissecting the literature as a whole group. The other part of the week is used to creatively connect the stories of Liesel, Max, the Hubermann's, and others to our own lives and the world we live in today. We play around with both, looking at the symbolism of elements such as color and how the personification of Death as our narrator impacts our ideas of humanity. \r\n\r\nThe impact of your gift will continue to inspire students for years to come as we have the opportunity to teach The Book Thief for years to come. I am so grateful for your generosity and appreciate all the support.","fullyFundedDate":1724599161632,"projectUrl":"project/promoting-literacy-through-engaging-stor/8419860/","projectTitle":"Promoting Literacy Through Engaging Stories With The Book Thief","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9554393_orig.jpg?crop=804,804,x12,y265&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717090126523","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9554393"},{"teacherId":9626739,"projectId":8554395,"letterContent":"I am beyond grateful for your generous contribution to our classroom project that provided flexible seating and comfortable lighting for reading and learning. Your donation has improved the learning environment, giving my students the opportunity to engage in new ways. The new seating arrangements allow students to choose where they feel most comfortable and productive. Coupled with the soft, adjustable lighting, the atmosphere is now calm and inviting, fostering a space where they can focus, collaborate, and explore their creativity.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new seating, they immediately gravitated toward the new spaces, eager to try out the different options. The comfortable setup helped them feel more relaxed, and as a result, the quality of their work and collaboration improved noticeably. The new resources are not just enhancing their current work but inspiring them to think outside the box. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your impactful contribution.
