As a PK to 5th grade STEM in Society teacher, we utilize Snap Circuits very often to support our projects involving the making of circuits.\r\n\r\nThese materials help students to understand the concepts of how electricity flows (or doesn't flow) through various materials and how a power source, wires, and a load are connected in order to function properly. \r\n\r\nStudents are very engaged when they can build the numerous projects contained in these kits and get them to function properly. The experiences open them up to questioning the world around them and how things work in their homes, schools and the world around them!\r\n\r\nAs a PK through 5th grade teacher, I can tell you it is never too soon to expose our learners to real world concepts and these tools allow us to do just that!","fullyFundedDate":1746553066460,"projectUrl":"project/snap-into-circuitry/9152901/","projectTitle":"Snap into Circuitry!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. DeBerry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2973065_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533524421325","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-deberry-eeestem"},{"teacherId":3090247,"projectId":9073758,"letterContent":"My students and I have been SO excited to use these new resources! The project got funded just in time for first grade's geology unit. We learned about the characteristics of different types of rocks and students were able to use the rock kit you provided to examine and describe various rocks and their characteristics. They were so engaged in this lesson and learned so much more since they were able to be hands-on and see the rocks firsthand. \r\nMy students were delighted as the materials began being delivered to our classroom. They especially enjoy the tub of animals. Just this week, we used the plastic animals to kick off our animal classification unit. Students grouped animals by their characteristics and described the categories they chose. All of my students were so engaged and loved being able to sort the animals instead of just looking at the pictures the curriculum provides. Check out the project photos to see the sorting in action. \r\n\tThis week, we began the human body unit with first grade, we have used the 3D model of the human body as we learn about each of the body systems. This hands-on approach has truly helped my students develop an understanding of the body systems. The hands-on materials have provided so much engagement for my students already this year and I cannot wait to see what else we discover with them in the months and years to come!\r\n\r\nThank you so much!!","fullyFundedDate":1746494163748,"projectUrl":"project/marvelous-models-maps-and-more/9073758/","projectTitle":"Marvelous Models, Maps and More!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Joop","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3090247_orig.png?crop=1179,1179,x0,y153&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727460750864","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msjoop"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_64162","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":494,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":54,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.5,"schoolId":64162,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Meade Heights Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Meade Heights Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/anne-arundel-county-public-schools/meade-heights-elementary-school/64162"}
