Your contribution is not just a donation—it is an investment in equity, in opportunity, and in the belief that every student, no matter what language they speak, deserves a chance to thrive. Across classrooms and communities, multilingual learners bring with them a rich tapestry of cultures, perspectives, and experiences. With your support, we are able to honor those strengths and provide the scaffolds, tools, and relationships they need to access their full potential. Your generosity helps fund essential resources like bilingual books, culturally relevant materials, interpretation and translation services, and professional development for educators to learn the most effective and compassionate strategies for language acquisition. You help create classrooms where students can see themselves reflected in the content they learn, and where their home languages are not only acknowledged but celebrated. Beyond the physical materials, your support empowers schools to create environments where multilingual learners feel safe, seen, and supported. It allows us to reduce language barriers, build family engagement, and foster deep connections between students, their peers, and their teachers. As a result, students who once felt isolated because of language differences begin to grow in confidence, participate actively in class, and achieve academically. Your gift sends a powerful message to these students: that they matter, that their voices count, and that their dreams are valid. It affirms that their journey to become fully bilingual or multilingual is not a deficit to overcome, but a powerful asset that enhances their learning and their communities. Thanks to you, schools can better live out their commitment to inclusive and equitable education. Teachers are better equipped to meet students where they are and move them forward with both compassion and high expectations. Families feel more welcomed and informed, strengthening the home-school connection that is so vital to a child's success. And most importantly, students feel empowered to bring their whole selves to school. This work is ongoing, and the needs are great—but because of donors like you, we are making real, lasting change. Your kindness creates ripples that extend far beyond the classroom. When multilingual learners succeed, we all benefit: schools become more vibrant, communities grow stronger, and our society becomes more inclusive. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to educational equity and your belief in the promise of every child. On behalf of the students, families, and educators you are supporting—thank you for walking beside us on this journey. Your generosity lights the way forward.","fullyFundedDate":1695518156060,"projectUrl":"project/support-multilingual-learners-succeed-in/7872977/","projectTitle":"Support Multilingual Learners Succeed in School!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Julia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9295995_orig.jpg?crop=1501,1501,x0,y120&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747762870539","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9295995"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41238","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":361,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":22,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":53,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.5,"schoolId":41238,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about McElwain Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"McElwain Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/adams-12-five-star-schools/mcelwain-elementary-school/41238"}
