Kindergarteners are little people with tons of energy. They need to move, and learn best when they are. I have decided to include flexible seating in my classroom to allow my students to choose how and where they learn best. Studies have shown that providing flexible seating will not only keep the students engaged and increase their attention span, but it will also help to burn calories and improve posture. I would like to incorporate stability cushions, floor pillows and wobble chairs into my classroom in order to allow this to happen. I currently have 2 wobble chairs and my students can't wait to sit on them. I watch them work while sitting on the wobble chairs and am amazed at what they accomplish while wobbling! Your generous donation will improve and increase my student's attention and focus, and allow my students to achieve their highest potential. By introducing floor pillows to my room, I will allow the students to have a comfortable place to work and read. I know I learn best when I am comfortable and I believe this is true for students as well. I think the stability discs will help my students who might have sensory issues receive the sensory feedback they need to help them stay on task. If a child is comfortable in their learning space, they are going to learn more and retain more. I am hoping that by allowing this choice and comfort in my classroom that I may inspire my students to achieve their goals.
