There is no \"light duty\" in the world of a preschool teacher. \r\n\r\nAfter returning to the we have already used mini binders to learn about Trees, Ice & Snow, Pets and Clothing. I also made a set of 6 mini binders for some students to follow along during our morning meeting. Each binder contains one page for each step of our morning meeting routine with moveable pieces: welcome song, whole body listening song, class expectations, daily weather, days of the week, color of the week, shape of the week, and monthly calendar.\r\n\r\nMy favorite story: one student had a very difficult time joining our group on the carpet for morning meeting. He would lay on the ground, hide around the room, or show tantrum behavior. The very first that day that I introduced his \"mini morning meeting\" binder he sang along with our songs, raised his hand to participate, and even told the teacher if we did something out of order. Your kindness has truly made a meaningful difference in our learning space, and I'm excited to share how much this project has already impacted our daily routines and classroom community.\r\n\r\nMy students come to our K–2 resource classroom each day full of curiosity, energy, and a strong desire to grow. They all have unique learning needs, and it's important to me to create an environment where every child feels safe, welcome, and ready to learn. Thanks to your donation, we now have a beautiful classroom carpet that helps make that possible.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest changes has been during our reading time. Independent reading is such an important part of our day, and the carpet has quickly become the favorite place to sit with a book. Students who were once restless or uncertain about where to go during reading time now settle in much more easily. Many of them treat the carpet as their own quiet corner where they can relax, explore stories, and enjoy books in a comfortable space. It has encouraged more positive reading habits and helped build confidence in students who are still developing their literacy skills.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the carpet has also become a place where friendships grow naturally. Students choose to sit together, talk about what they're reading, or simply enjoy sharing the space. I've seen them help each other with tasks, celebrate small successes, and support one another in ways that feel genuine and kind. Having this shared area has strengthened our classroom community in ways that are noticeable every single day.\r\n\r\nYour donation has provided more than just a classroom item you've given my students a space where they feel valued and included. You've helped create an environment that supports collaboration, comfort, and joy in learning. Thank you again for believing in our classroom and for supporting my students in such a meaningful way.","fullyFundedDate":1755826652842,"projectUrl":"project/a-cozy-carpet-for-learning-and-reading-t/9579981/","projectTitle":"A Cozy Carpet for Learning and Reading Together","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rivera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1537753_orig.png?crop=297,297,x109,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1626972801030","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-rivera87"},{"teacherId":6744207,"projectId":9736769,"letterContent":"\"Carpet Ride to Learning!\" -- has taken off in our kindergarten classroom.
