The whiteboard, beginning reading games, and story kits have benefitted my students both in whole group and individual reading time.\r\n\r\nI love having a whiteboard to use during whole group reading! Although I have a smartboard, I much prefer to use physical materials whenever I can. I teach students with intellectual disabilities, and physically manipulating materials is always a more engaging learning experience for them. One of the many things we've used the whiteboard for is Venn diagrams, as our ELA topic this month is compare and contrast. My students love adding to the Venn diagram using picture symbols and magnets, and it is so much better than clicking and dragging on a screen.\r\n\r\nI am also grateful for the sight word and phonics activities and games! My beginning readers work so hard to practice and apply their reading knowledge, and high-quality activities are motivating and make the process more fun. They also save me time in finding and creating materials! My students love incorporating games into our reading practice. They get as excited as if they are getting play time, and yet they are still practicing their reading!\r\n\r\nThank you also for the story kits! Stories are so much more engaging with objects to interact with. While I gather objects related to the stories we read, it is so helpful to have objects with exact images from the story that are easy to hold and move! My students love interacting with stories this way, and are more excited to answer questions about the story afterward!\r\n\r\nI greatly appreciate you using your resources to support our students' literacy. Your donations are benefitting children who work hard every day to improve their reading skills, and contributing to a program that ensures that all children are given an appropriate and joy-filled education, regardless of their ability level.
