After being a teacher for 18 years, but stepping into the role of the PE teacher, this project was necessary for our school. I could have never imagined, though, getting a large project fully funded would happen the first time I used Donors Choose. I am so appreciate and thankful and have recommended it to so many other teachers. \r\n This large project was full of gym mats, different kinds of balls, pillow polo sticks, bounce boards, and more. Because of this project I was able to do a hockey unit with my students. The equipment was also used to make Olympic stations that brought so much joy to my students. The possibilities are now endless to my lessons and I have an extra pep in my step knowing I have the things I need to be a successful teacher. \r\n When I first told students about the project, it seemed difficult to imagine what nearly $4000 of PE equipment would look like. But, each time I got out new cones or balls, you could see their excitement. They know people cared about them to give them these things and in return they are doing a nice job taking care of all the new equipment. \r\n One project I still have on my mind is to create a project to get scooters for the gym. They are used for so many different activities. We have some that are very dated and their size is inappropriate for all body types. I look forward to writing up my next project using Donors Choose.","fullyFundedDate":1766886648664,"projectUrl":"project/active-bodies-healthy-minds-building-s/9712809/","projectTitle":"Active Bodies, Healthy Minds: Building Strong Foundations in PE","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Trotter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10260148_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y331&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757954020956","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10260148"},{"teacherId":2225586,"projectId":10068043,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our classroom will be able to be transformed into a glowing celebration of learning! The new chairs, desks, and seating elements allow students to choose where they learn best, whether that's at a table, on a flexible chair, or in a quiet corner of the classroom. One powerful moment was seeing a student who usually struggled to stay focused choose a new seating option and remain engaged for an entire lesson. Having the ability to move and choose their space has made a noticeable difference in their concentration and participation.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new seating, their excitement was immediate. Their eyes lit up, and they couldn't wait to try each option. They asked thoughtful questions about how the seating worked and quickly took ownership of the space, respecting the materials and helping one another make good choices. It truly changed the classroom atmosphere, making it feel more welcoming, calm, and student-centered.\r\n\r\nThrough your support, you've gotten a glimpse into our classroom and the environment we are building together. Our next steps include helping students reflect on which seating options help them learn best and using flexible seating as part of our ongoing lessons in responsibility, self-regulation, and collaboration. As we continue our current classroom projects, students are learning to make purposeful choices that support their learning, skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.
