By using the calculators, pens, pencils, cardboard, and tape provided by your generosity, students were able to bridge the gap between abstract geometric formulas and real-world environmental responsibility. \r\n\r\nThis hands-on experience deeply heightened their awareness of environmental care, sparking critical realizations about the massive amount of waste generated by everyday commercial packaging. This awareness quickly turned into action as these high schoolers began analyzing products whose packaging is either unnecessarily large or blatantly wasteful. For example, one student team took on the challenge of redesigning the iconic, tall Pringles can. Using their Geometry tools and calculators, they successfully calculated how to reduce the overall height and material volume of the packaging while keeping the exact same amount of chips safe inside. Your support did not just teach them math; it empowered them to think like sustainable engineers eager to protect the planet.","fullyFundedDate":1773154657322,"projectUrl":"project/go-green/9929170/","projectTitle":"Go Green!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lapitan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9559397"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_104557","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":757,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":98,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"27.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.2,"schoolId":104557,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about HPIAM @ Marquez High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"HPIAM @ Marquez High School ","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/marquez-high-school-hpim/104557"}
