Students are using the new materials to design and construct their own three-dimensional hot air balloons. They have been sketching ideas, building their forms, applying paper mache, and will soon paint and add creative details to make each balloon unique.\r\n\r\nThe students were incredibly excited when they saw the materials and learned that they would have the opportunity to create a large-scale 3D sculpture. Many of them immediately began discussing their ideas and imagining what their finished hot air balloons could look like. Having enough quality materials for every student has allowed them to experiment, problem-solve, and take creative risks throughout the process.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to finish constructing and painting the balloons, then add baskets and final decorative details. Students will focus on craftsmanship, color, and personal expression as they transform their paper mache forms into finished works of art. We are so grateful to our donors for giving our students the opportunity to experience a hands-on sculpture project that they may not have otherwise been able to create. Thank you for helping bring more creativity, exploration, and joy into our art classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1773993442149,"projectUrl":"project/hot-air-balloons/10090552/","projectTitle":"Hot Air Balloons","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Componovo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10008746_orig.jpg?crop=1055,1055,x0,y140&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751994417588","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10008746"},{"teacherId":10008746,"projectId":9726042,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our donated clay will soon be used for a collaborative ceramic fish installation that will hang in our school hallway. Although we haven't begun the sculpting portion yet, the new materials have already helped us prepare for the project. I've created a designated display area where the finished fish will be showcased, and students have been sketching their designs and discussing glazing ideas. There's a lot of excitement building as we get ready to start the clay portion once our kiln reservation date arrives. \r\nEven though the clay is still boxed and waiting for firing day, my students were buzzing with excitement when they learned the materials had arrived. Many of them asked, \"When do we get to start?!\" and were thrilled to hear they'd be making real ceramic pieces that will become part of our school's art environment. The anticipation alone has been so energizing for them.\r\nBecause our school does not have its own kiln, we've reserved time at our local university's ceramics studio in mid-January. Once that date arrives, students will begin sculpting their fish, learning hand-building techniques, and preparing their pieces for firing. After the kiln visit, we'll glaze the sculptures and install them in the hallway for our whole school community to enjoy. This project will carry us into the new year, and my students cannot wait to begin creating with the clay you helped provide.","fullyFundedDate":1758785617314,"projectUrl":"project/school-wide-clay-project/9726042/","projectTitle":"School-Wide Clay Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Componovo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10008746_orig.jpg?crop=1055,1055,x0,y140&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751994417588","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10008746"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57696","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":140,"numTeachers":13,"percentFrplEligible":25,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":76,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":63.8,"schoolId":57696,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Maine Consolidated School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Maine Consolidated School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/maine-consolidated-school-district-10/maine-consolidated-school/57696"}
