I would like to have Spheros in my computer lab so that students can begin exploring computer languages. We have tried online coding applications, but the students sometimes loose interest with small images moving around on the screen. The Spheros and the coding program allow students to actually make the robots follow directions and GO! Students will use iPads and online lessons to program Sphero robots. They learn the JavaScript codes for making the spherical robots actually move and respond to student created programs. Some students will have the opportunity to learn the code during technology class. Others will learn the code and create projects during their MakerSpace time. Some of the students have already anticipated creating obstacle courses, having races, or creating games with the Spheros and are eager to get started. We have materials in our MakerSpace for students to get started creating obstacle courses or race tracks. Now all they need are the Spheros and accessories to really take their ideas over the top and learn coding, all while having TONS of fun!
