Through reading, students will be able to explore emotions, develop empathy, build confidence, and find healthy ways to navigate some of the challenges they face in their everyday lives.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this classroom library will help create a welcoming space where students feel comfortable picking up a book, getting lost in a story, and discovering something new about themselves or the world around them. Many of my students came to school carrying challenges that extended far beyond the classroom. Poverty, family hardships, and the effects of the pandemic impacted their emotional well-being, social development, and academic progress. My classroom became a place where every child could feel safe, valued, capable, and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nThe materials from this project helped create a classroom environment where students could focus, interact, build positive relationships, and take ownership of their learning. The desk pets gave students a tangible goal to work toward while encouraging responsibility, positive choices, and appropriate social interaction. Fidget bands provided students who struggled with focus an appropriate way to manage movement while remaining engaged in instruction. Tennis balls on chair legs reduced classroom noise and distractions, creating a calmer environment where students could concentrate.\r\n\r\nThe pocket sheets and anchor charts made lessons more interactive and provided students with consistent visual supports they could refer to throughout the school year. Basic supplies such as pencils, erasers, glue, ink, and pencil grips ensured that students had the materials they needed to participate fully without worrying about whether they could afford classroom supplies.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project helped me build a positive classroom community where students felt a sense of belonging. My students walked through my door knowing that they were loved, supported, and capable of success.\r\n\r\nBecause of this generous support, these seemingly simple materials had a much larger impact: less distraction, greater engagement, stronger social interactions, increased confidence, and a classroom where students were ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing not only in classroom supplies, but in the social-emotional well-being, confidence, and academic future of our children. Through hands-on learning, my students will learn firsthand how a circuit works. Using the materials purchased through this grant, students will use cell batteries, copper tape, and LED bulbs to create circuits of their own inside handmade greeting cards. This technology helps students move beyond simply reading about electricity in a textbook and allows them to see science come to life in a meaningful and memorable way.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is watching their card light up after building a working circuit themselves. There is a sense of pride and excitement when they realize that they can combine science, creativity, and problem-solving in one project. Students quickly discover that technology in the classroom can be interactive and engaging, making learning feel more like exploration than a traditional lesson.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who do not always shine during regular classroom activities have become especially engaged with this project. Some of my quieter students have shown confidence as they troubleshoot problems and help classmates make their bulbs light.
