This year, I have many students with a lot of movement and sensory needs, and having access to fidgets and weighted lap pads has been so helpful! When students first saw all of the things that were donated, they were so excited! They decided to name one of our weight lap pads \"Fluffy Fredrick\", and they ask for him often. We are doing a lot of social emotional work this year, and are currently learning how to regulate our emotions when we are upset. Students are learning coping strategies, language to use, and what resources they have available to them. We use the items donated regularly to practice these skills, and students are getting so much from these tools already. Thank you again for your contribution to our classroom and community. My students are so excited to have a flexible seating option they can use during independent and group work time. Students ask me consistently to use the bean bag chairs when they're not feeling well, need some time to calm down after a challenging day, or just to read when they complete their work. These bean bag chairs are also teaching the students self-control and respect. Students are asked to use the bean bag chairs properly or they don't get to use them. Many students who struggled with this at the beginning of the year are learning through the use of the bean bag chairs because they are something the students really want and enjoy.
