In speech-language therapy, reading is about so much more than sounding out words. It gives students a chance to build vocabulary, understand stories, have conversations, and connect with others.\r\n\r\nIn our sessions, reading often looks interactive and full of laughter. We pause to talk about how characters feel, describe what's happening, or use AAC devices to share ideas. I Am Thankful has helped students practice gratitude and sentence structure (\"I'm thankful for my dog because he plays with me\"). Wordless books like Pancakes for Breakfast have been great for storytelling, sequencing, and testing expressive language. They give every student a way to join in, no matter how they communicate.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest hits has been We Don't Eat Our Classmates! The kids light up every time we read it. It's sparked so many fun discussions about friendship, kindness, and how to treat others.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a real difference in our therapy room. These stories have brought more language, connection, and joy into our sessions.
