My students were thrilled to dive into our very first issue, and they especially loved learning about black bears, and how an abandoned baby black bear from California was saved this past spring. Their excitement and engagement was wonderful to see!\r\n\r\nThis resource is incredibly powerful because it combines high-interest nonfiction with meaningful connections to both social studies and science. For many 3rd graders, independently reading and comprehending nonfiction can be challenging, but Scholastic News makes the difficult fun. It motivates students to reread, ask questions, and think critically about what they've discovered.\r\n\r\nThe online resources, including video clips and extension activities, also allow me to plan purposeful lessons that build on one another and deepen comprehension.
