Students will be able to dig into nonfiction text when using the Scholastic News Magazines. The texts are engaging and cover relevant subjects and interesting current and historic events. These magazines come with graphic organizers and student lessons that specifically target Common Core reading standards. They have a technology connection that also builds background and helps students dig deeper with content and learn vocabulary and important reading strategies.
Students are able to use these magazines for repeated readings and can "mark them up" to drive home comprehension and critical thinking. Students are able to use these articles that are just the right length to practice research and gather text evidence. Even better, once we have finished with each magazine issue at school students can take them home to share and enjoy with their families. This resources is just what my students need to take their love of reading and ability to comprehend to the next level!
