My students cheerfully put the new items right to work in our October centers. Everything was used precisely as I expected. The hammering kits were a big hit throughout the month. The kids loved turning the different pieces into recognizable letters, numbers, and shapes. It was a perfect supplement to our curriculum and terrific work for our motor skills. We replaced all of our old dobbers, got the slide together pop-its put together for phoneme segmentation practice and got geared up for all of our fun lessons to come. Some are using the guide books, some are creating on their own, and some are expanding on what they see in the books. Through this project, I received some games to help with behavior and I also received a weighted stuffed dog that my students absolutely love.\r\n\r\n I have used the Escape from Anger Island game to help a few students who have trouble managing their big emotions such as anger or frustration. The game has helped them to learn coping skills and how to talk about their emotions. \r\n\r\nMy students loved seeing the dog for the first time. They have also had a part in naming the dog, which is now called Baxter. The dog helps to calm students down who may be experiencing some anxiety or sadness in their day. He is really comforting. \r\n\r\nAnother really fun item I received was an emotion face board activity kit. I have used this with one little girl in particular who was experiencing some sadness.
