The students are able to take care of their supplies and they know exactly where everything goes now. We want to have emergency clothing and other basic essentials. Students loved the project! They watched, every day, as the larve went thru all its stages. We have a garden on our campus, so we were able to release the butterflies into it. On day 1 of testing, they walked in and jaws all dropped when they saw the gifts! They excitedly opened up the pencil boxes and saw all the fun school supplies and treats and the energy was high. It was the perfect way to begin this testing season! As they finished up the first day, as soon as I told them they could work on the coloring books and activity books, they got super excited. This particular class has never really enjoyed coloring on projects so the fact that they were thrilled to have the activity books was so fun to see!\r\n\r\nI am glad I was able to start their testing careers off on a huge plus. They have many years ahead of them so to have year 1 be a positive experience, I hope that they continue excelling each year. They went into testing a lot more calm and relaxed and I think a big part of that was the fact that I was able to surprise them with these gifts. They know they are loved and are coming into a classroom where they can be themselves and not be stressed over a test. We received the items in time to review for state testing. They came in handy! The students loved the colorful and informative posters. I posted these around as the topics were reviewed, and students used them as they worked. Even weeks later, they would look for them to reference while they did their work. The multiplication charts came in handy also. The sticker feature was especially helpful for students to stick in their journals. These colorful and bright resources made an impact on student learning.\r\n\r\nThe sand timers were the most popular item. These are utilized every day! Students really got the hang of managing their time independently. They entered the room and knew they needed to complete a review for 15 minutes, and with the help of these timers, they were able to do so independently. This part of the day has been running very smoothly! I need to order a few more sets! Although they have not yet started their math unit in geometry, they were very excited to get a head start on using them. \r\n\r\nRestocking supplies such as highlighters, pencils, and pens can be expensive. Getting colorful pens and better-quality supplies can be even more expensive, so the help is greatly appreciated.
